The 91stAcademy Awards, or better known as Oscars, have wrapped up on 25 February 2019. The light was stolen by Olivia Colman who was awarded the Best Actress. How did she steal the show? Well, she delivered a hilarious victory speech that is better if listened, not told.
Olivia Colman’s Speech
And I tell you, boy, Colman is gaining a knack for delivering funny speeches that are stealing the show. And she was stunned when she was presented with her golden statue.
A lot of people were mentioned in her victory speech with a humorous touch. This is probably because of her British ancestry. The Brits are funny, you know. She called out to her kids hoping they were watching the show. She thanked her husband for his support. And she ended by screaming Lady Gaga randomly.
Green Book Stirred Heads
The controversial movie Green Book also stirred surprise when it beat Roma and The Favourite to win the Best Picture. Clearly, the audience was shocked. And so were the people involved with Green Book.
Green Book is a movie about a white chauffeur and a black musician. It won 3 out of 5 Academy Awards it was nominated for. Yes, no kidding.
Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay and what other than Best Picture. It beat Black Panther, Vice, Bohemian Rhapsody, A Star Is Born and BlacKkKlansman.
Other Awards
It comes as no surprise that Rami Malek won the Best Actor award for his role as Freddie Mercury in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody and Alfonso Cuaron bagged the Best Director for Roma.
Lady Gaga got emotional when her name was called out for her hit song Shallow from the movie A Star Is Born.
