The US-based universities have disapproved of scholars from entry into the US university campus if they have left for their foreign education destination with a Covaxin jab in India. A second jab and quarantine before entering the University campus await them.

The brand, Covaxin, is still seeking approval in the World Health Organisation (WHO) quarters. There are only two vaccines from India that have international permission, Covishield and Sputnik V from Russia. It is currently Covishield that has the edge over other vaccines.

Ankur Agarwal, the AECC global India country director, said to check the difficulty currently faced by Indian international students heading the US, the AstraZeneca (Covishield) vaccine from the Serum Institute of India is a better option. It has prior approval from WHO and is indigenously manufactured here.

Ensuring safety for the academic journey ahead, in case Covaxed, chances are you will be jabbed again. Not knowing the repercussions of the second jab of another brand, when the vaccination quota is complete, seek medical assistance if Covaxed.
