The IRCC falls back on its promises. It promised students that if they sent their applications in by May 15, they would have them processed by August 6, 2021.

Several international applicants have decided to postpone their start dates until January 2022, according to university news.

Students who submitted their applications timely still have to hear back from the IRCC. However, the news is, the IRCC deferred most incomplete applications sent after May 15 on minor pretexts.

Several students are still awaiting a response on the status of their visas. As an outcome of delay, more than 500 students have started their studies online rather than attending Canadian universities.

Last month saw only 730 students from the first and second semesters to have travelled to Canada to take classes. However, applications for Canadian universities have increased significantly even after the deadline date for Canada.

Sixty thousand applications stand completed of which 24,000 applicants are from India and 3,700 from France. The IRCC will address the other backlog soon, on deferrals taking processing time.

Meanwhile, international students and their institutions stay severely challenged by the processing delays of permit applications, primarily due to the situation created by Covid-19.
