About 2000 Indian students have been adversely affected by the unexpected closing down of three colleges in Montreal, Canada, according to the Indian High Commission in the capital Ottawa. All three institutions namely, CCSQ in Longueuil, M.College in Montreal and CDE College in Sherbrooke, were operated by Phoenix International Inc and had acquired millions of dollars as tuition fees from scholars before shutting down sharply. Students that have relocated to distinct areas in the country to live with relatives or friends claim they have been duped and have asked the Canadian government to intervene. The High Commission is in regular communication with the Canadian Federal Administration, the Provincial Administration of Quebec and has also elected officials from the Indian Community of Canada to offer support to the students in distress. Also, students have been told that they can contact the Education Wing of the High Commission in Ottawa or the consultant general of India in Toronto if they need any instant support.
