Cultural Issues in Role of Social Media in Political Campaign

Social media has opened up in the wider and large avenues for instant debates and discourses. The media proves and serves the main essentials which are important in a democratic society. Social media has played both positive and negative role in framing the image of culture and cultural issues in the society. The exact and the basic purpose of the social media is to provide public with the information and thoughts for decision making and grab the knowledge about the leadership and the policies set by the ruling political party (Howard, 2005). Social media has engaged people and has reduced the challenges for the society and political campaigns. Less labour and more gains have been into the present society. Political campaign and social media have promoted culture in some ways but couldn’t gain the interest of youth and attached people to social sites.

The impact of social media has affected the culture of the youth in vast, as they have made children in the quick access of the news and other information this can be in both the senses good and bad, as quick knowledge saves the time and provides instant acknowledgement to the people, and bad in the sense of that people have lost the capacity of making a research and achieving up of the information (Furedi, 2014). People are more attractive towards the fashionable world rather than influenced by the cultural world and the norms of the society. Especially the new generation has gained interest in the ways of social media rather than attaining knowledge on the cultural issues which are affected by the policies and glamor of social content. Watching television, staying up online, online games furthermore, have indulged into the young generation that there is no scope of them in taking any such interest in the cultural issues and agendas mainly which are related to political campaigns.

The culture of learning in the school has been changed to the online classes and online lectures from the variable sites and applications which is also the main source of influencing children towards an increase in the use of social media rather than spending time on the books and making the further studies. Throughout the history of mankind, the new technologies have been the reason of the change in the environment and culture of the surrounding. In the ancient time people did not have any knowledge about the technologies so in inference of that there was less development in the regards to the social media and social contact through internet or relatable sources. The internet and the use of social media have proved to be a very powerful tools that can completely influence, achieve and mould the human nature and behaviour. Invention of social media has played as important and significant role in the past few years and have affected the culture in vast (Kim & Zuniga, 2013).
