Question 1

The exacerbation of asthma is acute and this is identified by the gradual increase of some symptoms like wheezing, coughing problems, chest tightness, and dyspnea. From the case study, we come to know that Poppy is suffering from the acute exacerbation of asthma. This is a chronic disease that effects on the lungs and this triggers the narrowing of the airways. The bronchial tubes become narrow and for this reason, the patients suffer from breathing problems. The major symptoms that a patient of acute exacerbation of asthma faces are:-1.agitation,2. Hyper Ventilation,3. Increasing the heart rate,4. Decreasing the lung functions, and 5.Facing difficulties while speak or breathing.

Poppy is suffering from asthma as well as chronic health conditions which is included with the inhaled allergen. The dendritic cells which are responsible for the inhaled allergen are the antigen-presenting cells. This cell also active the lymphocytes cells. This leads to a patient suffering from asthma. This cell acts between the innate and the immune systems of the body and interacts with T and B cells. T-lymphocytes protect the stem cells and help us for the immune system in our body. It also protects us from any kind of infection and also activates the CD helper cell. The increase of the inflammation allows the immune cells to move around the allergen of the body. Thus one patient suffers from asthma for the obstruction of the airways.

From the patient report, we come to know that poppy is facing breathing problems as well as she cannot speak a full sentence while talking. She has some respiratory symptoms also. The worsening of her breathing due to acute exacerbation of asthma got her admitted to ISU. She has also a risk-factor to develop the hyperresponsiveness of the airways. From the X-ray test, we can see that she has hyperinflated lungs and that’s why hyperinflation occurs. This hyperinflation blocks the passing of the air into the lungs (Zhang et al., 2019).

Question 2

From the case study, we come to know that Poppy has respiratory problems. This is why the best suitable position for her is high fowlers position. The patient sit in a semi-seat position and this is usually 40-60 degrees. This technique is used to promote the oxygenation by the complete expansion of the chests. This procedure is taken due to respiratory disturbance cases. Flower’s position allows the patient for the better breathing as well as this relaxes the stress which the patient feels in the abdominal muscles. This position is also used to reduce the possibility of aspiration when the nasogastric tube is used. Besides, it improves chest compression due to gravity. This is why, high flower position is appropriate for the poppy’s treatment.

The best oxygen delivery system for the asthma patient is an oxygen concentrator. As poppy is 9 years old child this is suitable for her and it will also help her for better breathing. Oxygen concentrator is basically used for supplying oxygen in many healthcare applications and it is helpful when the liquid oxygen is harmful or inconvenient for the health. This system has the nebulizers which is helpful to clear the airways due to the asthma attack. The oxygen concentrator supplies the oxygen all day and this is not dependant on the patient’s activity.

When the patient suffers a high breathing problem, the oxygen concentrator constantly supplies oxygen at that time. From the case study, we come to know that poppy admitted to the ICU due to asthma so it is very essential for her to supply extra oxygen in her body to recover her breathing problem. As we know that any asthma patient has a high chance of stroke so the oxygen concentrator can help that time by filling up the extra oxygen in the lungs (Zuo et al., 2019).

Question 3

Salbutamol is considered as the albuterol that helps the asthma patient to open the airways and reduce breathing problems for the asthma patient. This is mainly used for asthma attacks and chronic pulmonary diseases. This is basically used with the nebulizer. From the case study, we come to know poppy admitted in the ICU and she used this salbutamol via the nebulizer for her acute exacerbation of asthma. Salbutamol is also used as a tablet or intravenous medication. I think this is a suitable treatment for the poppy’s health as she is suffering from breathing problems.

Ipratropium bromide is used for breathing problems and wheezing that is mainly occurs due to lung or asthma diseases. This ipratropium relaxes the muscles and opens up the airways into the lungs so that any patient can breathe comfortably. This is an effective medication for the asthma patient and those patients who are suffering from lung diseases. The patient can relief from the wheezing or breathing difficulties easily with the help of Ipratropium bromide vis nebulizer. As per my suggestion, this is also a suitable solution for poppy’s health condition.

The chest x-ray reports of Poppy shows that she has some problems in her lungs. Hydrocortisone injection is used for asthma treatment. There are so many uses for this hydrocortisone injections:-

  • This is used to prevent allergic problems.

  • It relieves the inflammation in our body. This is also called an anti-inflammatory injection.

  • This is the best treatment for autoimmune diseases, asthma problems, and other lung problems.

  • It helps us to prevent the inflammation and many skin problems also.

  • Not only inflammation this is also helpful for a variety of cancer treatments like leukaemia and lymphoma.

  • This is available in the market as many forms like pills or tablet forms and it can be taken after eating proper meals.

  • This injection is taken into our body muscles with the advice of the doctors only.

From the case study of poppy, we come to know that she has the inflammation problems and the high-breathing problems so this treatment can be helpful for her recovery and it can reduce her breathing problems as well.

Hydrocortisone injection is mainly used for the cancer treatments and it is also called as “glucocorticosteroid” (Moore et al., 2019).
