Medical Adult Hospital Ward Environment

Advocacy is defined as an important concept of nursing where three core values are maintained – freedom for suffering, patient equality, and preserving human dignity. In a busy hospital, the first advocacy will be for the workforce. If the nurses observe any unethical or unprofessional activity where the rights of their co-workers or the rights of the patients are violated then they must inform the higher authorities. The work-load should never comprise the safety, respect, dignity, and rights of the patients and their family members. More importantly, adults with serious health issues should be given proper time for assessments, monitoring, and evaluation. The nurses should never cut-short the time divided for these factors to ensure that they manage the patents as fast as possible. As in this way, patient safety will be compromised to a great extent. The nurses and co-workers should always be encouraged to work according to health policies and perform shared decision-making.
