Dear Ace Apinchapong,

My name is David Kusuma. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business. I was raised in the country of Indonesia where I was surrounded by people having different cultures and countries. I have learned a lot from them. I see myself as a team player as from participating in sports competition at high school to joining professional clubs in USC, I have done everything. I think working in a team has its benefits, as we can learn from others success and failures. It creates a positive and healthy working environment. I found it interesting that I always try to remain in social dynamic so that I can understand myself to work on myself. I like to communicate with other people. It always excites me to talk and communicate with people having different cultures and origins.

Exploring my career path, I understood that I can exchange unique ideas, and meeting new people is somewhat I thought of doing someday. This is the reason I think which excites me to become a consultant. I have an experience of working with two successful tech startups as an HR intern and an Investment analyst intern over the past two years. Being in such organizations, I realized that this work is not for me. It doesn’t excite me as an individual. I have led a team of students to brainstorm in USC which shows my leadership skills. I have also an experience of travelling and organizing activities at USC. During my travel, I met several peoples and guided them during the event. Apart from this, I have worked with Vice President of Finance to allocate USD 6,000 budget across events and ensure optimal spending, on average doubling revenue over costs per event. It shows my creative and innovative skills. I have good managerial skills along with strategic planning abilities. Through this event and my experiences, I have learned to cope with challenges and pressure easily.

I prefer consulting as my career because I am confident that I can travel and meet clients to convince them to get the work done for my company. I can speak languages like English, Bahasa Indonesia, and a little bit Chinese (basic). I think if I will enjoy my job, I will give 100 per cent to it. To get satisfaction from the job it is required that you enjoy your job and have fun while doing it. It is another reason which attracts me towards this career path. During my experience at Helical and Go-JET, I have learned to carry out researches and data collection which will help during my job as a consultant. I think I am fit for this position and I assure you that I will try my best in delivering values to the clients and will create a positive working environment.
