Learning is a continuous process that must not be stopped. Right from birth, an infant starts to learn things and grows in a child. The growth of an infant gradually occurs through learning several days to day aspects. Learning does not come instantly, it takes ages to learn and master something. An infant also first listens to others talk and then tries to grasp their language and emotions. Learning is an ongoing process. It does not finish with age. A person irrespective of his age can continue the process of learning.
A child whose age is six can have the passion to learn coding or any programming language while an old age man can start to learn a new language or even a cultural folk dance. As stated before, learning comes with curiosity. The inquisitiveness to master something grips the learning process. A person can learn things as per his comfort zone, it could be either outdoors through a classroom teaching or field teaching program or it could even be self-taught.
For example, nobody taught me how to make a tie knot and irrespective of the fact that it is not learned from someone else, I can make a perfect tie knot myself. As a matter of fact, my younger brother knows three regional languages and four different international languages at the age of 14. It could be unbelievable for some but for others, it could be less. So, to add learning is never less. For some, it could be below the margin and the same thing could be above the crease for others.
We are always mistaken by the age of learning. Although, it is seen that children and students have a faster learning process than the adults while it cannot prove that adults do not enjoy the process of learning. Adults with different job patterns and career obstacles get several hurdles at their workplace which allows them to learn something innovative and new. This makes their job interesting and non-mundane with helping them grow productively. The feeling of learning something new brings confidence and elevates self-esteem.
The learning process also imbibes multiple characteristics in us while grasping the particular learning. Specifically, if I talk about my University courses, they inculcate new details and learning about the particular field I am passionate about. The courses provide me with an in-depth knowledge about my stream and help me to research further for more learning.
To my knowledge, learning should be assessable so that it can be self-analysed and we can observe the changes it could bring to our perspective. While we learn something, we are energetic and full of zeal about the specific approach towards the learning target. This makes me realize the process of learning and keeps me agile and confident. Others can also sense our enthusiasm and the confidence over our approach and hence, analyse that we are undergoing a learning process.
According to my experience in the course till date, the reflective practice requires strong observation about the situation so that new connections could be generated by understanding and assessing the circumstance. Therefore, observation, assessment, and knowledge are the key elements of reflection as per me.
To make someone employable, it is crucial to be knowledgeable concerning the specific target and verified by a certain organization so that you are qualified to take up the particular aspect as your career. Thus, a person can be employable if he is qualified and has immense knowledge about a particular career. People with the zeal to learn something tend to grasp their lessons at a faster rate rather than someone who is bound and forced to learn. Such people who learn things with self-motivation and enthusiasm are to be considered as smart.
With it comes to reflective learning and career development, I wonder about the people who do not listen to their dreams and are under family pressure or peer pressure to pursue something that is not their cup of tea. An individual must focus on their goals and strive for excellence till he does not achieve it.
I was in grade 2 when I realized about the existence of indigenous people in Canada. All I remember of them primarily was that they were always too quiet and introvert. Never made friends with us, or played in the playground. At first, I thought that they are not comfortable playing with us because their parents told them not to. Nevertheless, we were kids and did not know exactly about their situation and the circumstances they have to face. Personally, I was too upset about them not playing with us although; my parents did not like to attend them. Even after my consistent approach I never got to mix up with those kids.
Ques 2. The truth and Reconciliation Commission is an organization that mends all the evils and incorrect practices carried out by the government in the past. The TRC gives an opportunity for the present individuals to take up a step and reconcile al the wrongs done in history. It motivates the youth and represents that every individual is strong and not is nobody’s liability. The TRC also ensures that no past issues would be a problem in the current condition and therefore, the committee tries to sort every conflict between the individuals so that justice, peace and harmony are maintained.
Ques 3. As per the videos, it can be observed that decolonization of the Indigenous people was an impactful movement. This not only impacted them but also affected the other people linked to them. However, in long run, I feel it was a better movement because the situations of Indigenous people were not fine in the country and thus, decolonization could be the last and the best resort. The lives of young students and kids were all affected in an ill manner. The education system was also not supportive and thus, the indigenous people were ill-treated and insulted (Hall, et al., 2017). They remained isolated and did not allow themselves to be in contact with any non-Indigenous person due to fear and disgraceful humility. According to me, the five tenets from the videos displayed would be as follows:
Socio-Cultural differences: the videos displayed the basic variation in social and cultural beliefs, which creates differences amongst the people.
Ethical Correlation: due to difference in religions, ethical differences could also arise leading to conflicts of ideas. For example- Hinduism preaches to worship a cow, while for the other communities, a cow can be consumed as meat. This leads to conflicts and the clash of ideas and ethical implications.
Unity: decolonization and other such separation ideas arise due to lack of unity and this arises due to difference in approach. People tend to forget that individually everyone is different and we must be united in every situation.
Peace: no matter what the circumstance is, peace must prevail across the global. Globalization is the act of combining people across the world and gets them together with the same aim so that wars and tough times must be avoided.
Reconciliation: to mend and improve every wrong done in the past, an honest reconciliation should be made to eliminate the growth of conflicts and further indifferences (Robinson, et al., 2016).
Ques 4. I agree with the fact that decolonization is an essential part. With decolonization, the people would get a better place to live in. There would not be any disgraceful or humiliating situations further. Decolonization restores cultural, ethical, psychological and social beliefs. This way decolonization, in my opinion, would be a beneficial step towards social welfare.
The collage represents the struggle that the Indigenous people had to undergo (as per the video also). Due to their struggle and sufferings at that point of time, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission is working their best to empower the minority and compensate for every odds done in the past sto avoid any further damage or conflict.
