Reporting And Improving The Concept Of Corporate Sustainability

The resources used in supporting sustainability in the workplace

  1. Integrating green section tips to the newsletter.

  2. Discussing sustainability goals on reducing wastes with employees.

  3. Sharing sustainability successes on energy usage.

  4. Improving the signage on bins.

  5. Hosting recycling or reusing events.

Improvements to Be Made on Current Resource Usage.

The company has always set a clear sustainability strategy and vision motivated by regional and global sustainability. With the commitment to realizing sustainability in all the corners of the business, the organization implemented many modifications works. The practices include the installation of energy monitoring and water sub-meter units to allow everyone to modify and monitor resource usage effectively (Camuffo, De Stefano, & Paolino, 2017). Over the last year, the results of the approach have proven to be beneficial. While still focused on higher levels of performance, the firm must commit to forming the best external and internal environments for the clients and employees.

Health and Wellness programs are a vital part of the corporate's sustainability strategy, so the current program must include scheduled activities that improve employee's well being and health. These include group yoga sessions, healthy breakfasts, and mindfulness workshops. The company also must do its best to become an early adopter of any arising technological innovation that can impact the environment positively. This year, this action might involve installing a station for electric cars charging at the headquarters or even any other office.

This station should have enough dedicated car park spaces with a vehicle charger fixed with its universal plug to allow it to charge every type of electric as well as hybrid cars. The charging costs should be free for all visitors and employees. De Prins, Stuer, and Gielens (2018) noted that all these practices aim to enable the staff to adopt a lot of environmentally sustainable and preferred lifestyles and also contribute to the community at large. The employees will always think of how to reduce the carbon emission and footprint actively. As such, it will be an encouragement to invest in electric and even hybrid cars or travel using public transport.

Sustainable Workplace Practices

Based on the sustainable experiences already, the identified new targets for creating a greener, happier, healthier, and a highly sustainable working environment is vital. The main aim is to enable the company to move beyond only discussing being environmentally sustainable, and it will begin to walk along with this talk (De Prins, Stuer, & Gielens, 2018). These targeted recommendations will involve investment in sustainable fit-outs in the interior of the workplace. This move will create the right condition for energy and other resource consumption, lighting, thermal comfort, air quality, among others. Many cutting-edge innovations will contribute to improved employee productivity and health while reducing operational costs.

Equally, the target will be on energy management by conducting an energy review to obtain opportunities for cutting consumption. For instance, the practice will begin by identifying cracks and leaks and seal them to reduce cooling and heating costs. Putting in place systems that perform smart monitoring and metering of energy usage will increase staff accountability. Besides, natural lighting can be trapped as much as possible to cut down on electricity consumption and also create a healthy workplace integrating biophilic aspects.

Water remains one scarce resource, particularly in arid climates. Some of the targeted measures to be taken in managing water consumption in the workplace include using efficient plumbing equipment in the showerheads and toilets, slow-flowing aerators fitting on the faucets, as well as water-efficient washing machines.

Waste production rates within the workplace are the highest globally because of the rapid population growth and economic expansion. In response to the high daily percentage, the company has set a goal for cutting the total wastes getting to landfills. Various measures to be implemented for encouraging every employee to be aware and opt to recycle a lot of it (bin Magbool et al. 2016). Setting up waste collection and recycling stations will help in reducing disposal costs. The efficient system is good for saving the companies money and the environment too.

The office can also become a green space by going green. Workers who use various types of devices and software will work efficiently, spend time effectively, and even cut down on waste production. Employees will be motivated to go paperless and reduce the number of printers and rationing toner and paper use when printing. Using technology facilitates collaborations and organizing the best decisions made by the company.

Alternative Solutions to Workplace Environmental Issues

Some of the alternative measures to environmental issues in the workplace include employee engagement. Offices must become living spaces to guarantee sustainability. This process comprises involving and motivating employees to implement sustainability processes. Smart recycling policies and interior controls for thermal production are positive measures. Camuffo, De Stefano, and Paolino (2017) suggested that there is a lot more to be achieved when there is high employee awareness. Raising awareness and increasing accountability in employees in the company promotes a corporate culture. Including employees when creating environmental awareness is essential to achieving the success of a sustainable initiative in the workplace.

At a different level, environmental concerns can be applied at the workplace by putting in place procedures and policies for sustainable procurement. This measure also involves examining every stage of the company's supply chain and identify if the environmental improvements set are practical. Sustainable procurement involves including conservational and non-cost aspects in the process of procurement (Dobbins & Dundon, 2017). Purchase decisions will then be made concerning quality, cost, and sustainability.

This consideration includes the supplier and must encourage them to have environmental processes to supply environmentally sustainable goods. Selecting the optimal processing parameters. The resource consumption rate depends on the parameters of the process, used tools, and processed materials. In the project, increasing the removal rate of the materials improved the machine's energy efficiency.

Implementing Performance Improvement Strategies

Environmental Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

This approach is quite extensive when studying th environmental impacts of a product throughout its life cycle. The primary steps will involve defining the goals and scope, analyzing the inventory, implications, and interpreting its findings to form recommendations or conclusions to the decision-makers.

Life Cycle Screening (LCS) and MET-matrix.

In the context of identifying key issues that need further explorations, an LCS must be conducted. This tool is a simplified LCA that cannot, however, replace a whole LCA. Equally, the tool MET-matrix will help in quickly drawing up the list of the key environmental aspects of a product. The categories of these ecological issues include material cycle, toxic emissions, and energy consumption.

Material Input Per Service unit (MIPS).

The concept of MIPS is a well-known life cycle tool that helps in analyzing material inputs per service unit. The product, in this case, is considered as the service machines that focus on the consumption of resources to result in lesser waste yields.

Life Cycle Costing (LCC).

All the economic cases are the motivating forces within any industry, which results in cost-effectiveness to indicate a lot of performance at the least costs.

Monitoring Performance

1. Economic performance indicators

2. Social performance indicators

3. Environmental performance indicators

The company's turnover increased.

The profits gained are twice the previous years at the same time.

The number of products and services sold increased within the first month.

The company was involved in beneficial labor practices.

The main concern of the business is on broader issues impacting the community, consumers, and any other stakeholders.

There were minimum greenhouse gas emissions.

The company reduced its water consumption rates.

The total waste outputs were minimal.

Outcomes Reporting on Efficiency Targets to Key Personnel and Stakeholders

The wastes generated by the employees depend strongly on the processes happening. Islam et al. (2019 reported that increasing the workers' knowledge about reuse and recycling would help in reducing the produced waste. An example of a way of reducing waste involves machining without fluids in cases that require cutting fluids or avoiding the decline of the amount of cutting fluids. All the rejected materials and products should be processing using proper quality parameters to enable meeting the required tolerances. Adequate worker training and instructions also help in minimizing the total rejected products.

Evaluation of Strategies and Improvement Plans

Strategy to be optimized

Improvement Plan

Energy consumption in the entire organization

Energy consumption as per specific resources

Turning off machines for energy Costs

Energy Efficiency

Weight of materials used

Waste and used material efficiency

The total amount and weight of wastes depending on the disposal method and type

Increase the percentage of recycled materials used

Reduce direct emissions of greenhouse gas

Minimize full resource consumption by source.

Increase the total volume of resources reused and recycled.

Raising job motivation and satisfaction

Review the performance of more employees and career development.

New Efficiency Targets Applying New Tools and Strategies

Setting the new efficiency targets involved analyzing and identifying the potential cause-effect connections between the sustainability metrics and production decisions. In general, the decisions to be considered include investment decisions, production designs, procurement strategy, material selection, and manufacturing location decisions because they significantly impact the sustainability of production and the actual performance. The employees must understand the different processes with different outputs and various possibilities for reuse material. The procurement strategy also affects the lifecycle of the products. So the sub-contractors and suppliers selected must be in line with sustainable manufacturing measures

Promoting Successful Strategies

Based on the assessment performed, the variation in measures taken increases job satisfaction and enhances the motivation to work. This will be promoted through production planning and allocating certain resources dynamically, selecting measures that will affect the organization positively (Islam et al. 2019).

Coaching

Sustainability-related underperformance issues from the report is still a struggle for the decision-making processes. Considering all the drivers required for such development, like cost savings, customer needs, and resource efficiency, among others, makes the path to prove to be not viable.

I used the GROW model in coaching the struggle in decision making to achieve the goal of sustainability within the company by focusing on this meaningful goal that every employee is supposed to commit to as well as obtain it. The approach was then applied in establishing the Reality by explaining what their adoption measure is currently. I then asked the awareness questions to expand understanding of the things happening when these employees try to implement sustainable strategies, hence identifying the existing obstacles and issues.

The items included, when they managed to practice recycling or an energy efficiency method, what the difference was? Are there any differences between the days the strategies were used and the moment things were normal? The employees genuinely answered these questions and discovered the new information regarding what is useful and what is not working for them regarding attaining sustainability and creating a potential environment for changes. It then was possible to form Opportunities to help overcome the Obstacles and issues.

These included looking at the exercise regimes and resource efficiency strategies that work best and identifying a specific kind of help. Once these staff knew the performing plans, I established the best Willingness to the way forward that involved taking actionable steps. At this point, the company committed to the things they would do within the shortest term possible to enable the strategies to become active. For example, one action involved asking the head of the financial department to provide the procurement department with funds for supporting buying the different needed products.

Outcome of this coaching session

GROW neatly emphasized the nature of issues for coaching objectives. Using this approach automatically broke the problems down into various components. The company has started to work towards its feasible sustainability strategy by embracing the concept of becoming more environmentally friendly and being more attentive to conserving the resources on the planet. The same principle has been applied to issues about the processes, strategy, personal matters, among others.
