Reflection Report: Best Practice of BPI Case Study

Small businesses hold a crucial position in the Australian Business area. However, the small businesses in Australia suffer from a lack of sufficient workforce and lack of efficient management. Business Process Management (BPM) has been successful in recent years to improve performance in businesses. It is anticipated that within a small period, it can thrust upon the small business organizations. The given case study focuses on the application of Busines Process Management(BPM) for constructing the infrastructure in the growth of a small business. It investigates whether conventional BPM technologies, tools and techniques can be implemented in setting up a small business. It is known as Business Process Improvement (BPI).

The case study outlines the backdrop of the case organization and analyzes the activities done for the application of BPM initiatives. It then highlights the main observations drawn from conducting the investigation and consulting the stakeholders. The main job was to prepare a governance framework, apply the architecture process, the process of service delivery etc. It also included the establishment of the resource allocation system and pilot process and library procedure. Therefore, various implications such as low-cost business systems, a well-organized approach, lowering the cost of maintenance, strong communication, avoiding errors are considered for the extensive application of the BPM framework.

It is to enhance the knowledge relating to the question of adopting the initiative of Business Project Management (BPM) among the vast sector of small businesses. It has been found that BPI has a strong impact on organizations, both positive and negative. Efficiency, compatibility of the tools and level of the outcome, better output quality, development in funds and skills etc. are some of the benefits which could be drawn out. However, if the methods are not implemented effectively, it can have an adverse effect on the organizations.

The feedback received for Part A of the assignment was that the presentation produced clarity covering all the aspects of Business Process Management (BPM) on small businesses. However, the presentation lacked a table of contents. There was also no properly structured introduction for the case study stating what Business Management Process (BPM) is and how it can benefit the small business sectors and help in their growth and development. For every project, a basic introduction is required to draw the reader’s attention as to what has been discussed. It further raises his interest in reading the whole of it.

Moreover, it is a virtual representation; therefore, to refrain from reading, modulation of the voice tone is suggested. However, the analysis of the impact of Business Process Management in the areas of small businesses has been elaborated effectively. The tools, techniques and technologies used for BPI have also been discussed in detail in the presentation. However, the feedback provided states that the presentation was quite lengthy with the usage of long sentences and too many words. Instead, it should have been portrayed with several graphs and pictures. It would have made the presentation short, crisp and interesting.

The subject has helped me to develop a reasonable understanding and establish a logical perspective relating to Business Process Management (BPM). BPM is a systematic approach that can be made to small scale businesses to promote their growth and development. For successfully portraying the case study, I had to go deep into the subject matter and had to do extensive research to collect information. It took a lot of time and energy to gather the information, note them down, arrange them and finally form a constructive structure.

The BPI model shall be framed in such a manner so that the organization can upgrade itself to the level decided by the organization’s vision. It has been found in my research that if the small business organizations adopt aggressive planning for growth, there is a high chance that it would fail to cope up with the business environment. Therefore, the planning shall be done by adopting well-organized business models as the business of the organization necessitates. BPI can help the company in this respect so that it can achieve decided objectives.

Moreover, the main intention of BPI is to eliminate redundancy and issues that pop up in the operational activities of the organization. Hence, the company can effectively work and fulfill all the requirements needed for the smooth running of the business and attain its goals. Therefore, the management needs to analyze the needs of the organization and then systematically plan for a Business Process Improvement model. After that, through using the tools, they can enhance the business to a level where it can successfully develop itself to achieve the objectives anticipated by them.

It has also enhanced my concept that Business Process Management (BPM) is crucial for an organization to link the business environment with the demand and desires of the customers. It also helps the organization to locate, supervise and measure the resources of the company. Effective application of BPM can yield productive results by minimizing cost, reducing risk factors, promoting growth etc.

All these findings have provided me to develop ample knowledge on how to ease the business condition of an organization. It will help me while in y future assignments and will also be beneficial for me when I would join an organization. It helps the management to enhance business prospectives and also increase the profits of the company. It will enable the organization to keep pace with the changing business environment.

For the successful completion of the assessment, I have resorted to various journals and websites so that I can gather as much information as possible. I have also referred to multiple textbooks from the library. I have used Business Project Management (BPM), Business Project Improvement (BPI), Impact of BPI on organizations etc. as the keywords to search for relevant information. It was a difficult task to collect data and gain knowledge relating to such a vast subject area. However, academic and conventional sources have helped me to proceed with the assessment without any obstruction. The references are authentic and containing a detailed set of data. These also have a direct connection with the subject matter of the assessment.
