Introduction to Canadian Gun Control Policy

The current study has focused on analysis of a recent article that includes Canadian legal issues in its discussion. The article has been recently published and the publisher is Global News Canada. The main context of discussion within the current article is the confusion created among the common Canadian people by the gun laws which has been claimed to be complicated and inadequate to save lives.

Analysis of Canadian Gun Control Policy

The gun law provisions have been considered has claimed to be affecting the lives of common Canadian people. There is also a lack of representatives available to the common people that will help with advising for carrying out restricted arms transporting to one place to the others even for resolving maintenance issues. The minor regulatory infractions are causing high amount of penalty to the common Canadians (Global News, 2020). The legal rules have been considered to be ineffective when a person commits a dreadful crime with a gun.
It is simply increasing confusion for the Canadians which actually indicates that in transporting a restricted firearm which includes handguns have to be taken through “a route that, in all circumstances is reasonably direct for the specific indicated purposes”. As per the author of the article, the interpretation of the jurisdiction is highly important and is dependent upon the police officer catching the gun carrier.
The current article has provided an adequate understanding of the gap of the gun rules enforced in Canada for the licensed users where, some weaknesses for dependence of people in interpretation of the jurisdiction have been highlighted. The author shared personal incident and related the gaps in the jurisdiction in effective way that the issues related to the gun rules are clearly presented. Legal rule which has been mentioned here is while transporting the gun; it is required to take a route which will be in all circumstances direct to the indicated purpose. It may simply lead to criminal charges even if the license holder has to shift the gun for minor purposes such as regular maintenance from one corner of the city towards another. It is impacting on the constitutional rights of the common people to be subjected to warrant-less home searches. The law has been enacted in the year 2012 as “Ending the Long-gun Registry Act (Parliament of Canada, 2020).

As depicted in the current study, the rules associated with the restricted firearms are somewhat misguiding and incomplete as this does not provide answer to the simple questions. Though the rules inform about the requirements of safety training, application of license and security screening, the Canadian gun rules abided by the act is inadequate to solve some simple related questions. For instance, if the cable opens remains open while carrying out a gun through transportation routes such as Tim Hortons stop and others there is no specific legal provision to handle with this situation, there is also a lack of clear indication for direction for the licensed gun users that if they forget their licenses how the transportations will be guided with restrictions. There is also a lack of understanding on if the gun holder needs to stop at mid way for any purpose on the way home from the range, what will be the legal provisions.

The current article has effectively linked the legal sources with the common life experience to make it more comprehensible (Hennigar, 2019). It contains valuable arguments as presented above. The legal concept of difficulties for interpreting the rules in a correct manner which might lead to criminal; charges by the police and the jurisdiction has been presented in an effective manner.

In conclusion, it can be opinionated that the gun rules for carrying those out from one place to another is highly required to be revised which will increase the understanding of the restrictions and will be clear in understanding. The questions raised above are required to be simply considered for modifying the provisions.
