Introduction

This study aims to critically evaluate the case study of Brilliant Lights which is a small scale organization. The organisation is a small fitting manufacturing enterprise which has five employees. The organisation is operating for the past 17 years and now several changes need to be done in order to keep up the organisation with the trends in the market. Doug is the general manager of the organisation, since the beginning of the organisation. He is about 58 years old and counting his retirement plans due to lack of motivation in the organization which is needed to drive any organisation (Akanbiemu, 2018). Apart from this, Julie, Mary, Sam and Peter are the other employees in the organisation which have different roles and responsibility in the organisation. The organisation is facing immense difficulty in delivering services to the customer due to increased competition from overseas such as China. Lack of motivation, innovation and quality service are the factors that lead the organisation at this point.

Range of Issues and Problem

Due to globalisation, every business has a great opportunity to expand its business from one country to another country. As there are various businesses that face difficulty in order to keep up with the market trends. Similarly, Brilliant Light is facing the same issue that aids in competing with competitors such as China. China is one of the countries which generate large revenue via exporting its product at a high cost which is a comparatively appropriate cost in other countries. The product delivered by China is very low in terms of prices as well as quality. The organisation could not meet the cost and sales that China is delivering. The organisation is facing stiff competition from international level as well as the domestic level (Kadwa& Barnard, 2019).

The quality of the product has also declined and is very important for the organisation to bring the products that meet the needs of the present situation. Apart from this organisation face lack of innovation and motivation in the organisation. The organisation is not able to meet the trends as it leads to an increase in the cost and create a financial problem for the organisation. This issue impacts the reputation of the organisation it is very important for the organisation to make strategies that meet the needs and demand. Apart from this, the organisation has a lack of leadership as it leaves the organisation to be motivated and encouraged during this tough time. These are the main issues that the organisation is facing as the organisation needs to eradicate these issues to accomplish goals.

Key Issues

The issue that the organisation is facing is the managing leadership style and the lack of innovation. During this tough time, it is very important for the organisation to stand together and fight against the problems. Therefore, the organisation and the other members need to be very cooperative in order to make the best decision for the organisation. Lack of innovation is the biggest problem that the organisation is facing as it impacts the performance of the organisation. Lack of innovation leads to dissatisfying results from the customer point of you and it also impacts on the financial condition of the organisation. Therefore, innovation impacts the organisation performance at very large scale. In terms of leadership, organisation members are not satisfied with the organisation environment (Kim&Nah, 2016). Lack of encouragement and motivation in the organisation create more problems in the workplace. At this point of time leadership plays a very important role. As per the scenario, it is important for the organisation to adopt impactful leadership style in order to manage these issues. The innovation and leadership style is one of the issues that the organisation is facing which directly impacts on organization performance as well as employees performance.

Theories and Concepts

The nation is facing the two biggest issues that are managing leadership style and lack of innovation in the organisation. Innovation is an integral part of the organisation which leads the organisation to keep up the strategies and product with the marketing demand and trends. The theory which is related to the innovation is the jobs to be done theory. Jobs-to- be- done theory refers to the theory that focuses on outcome-driven innovation. This theory helps the organisation to know the needs and demand of the customer. Considering the needs and demand of the customer the organisation needs to build up the product and strategies as per customer requirements (Kim&Nah, 2016). On the other hand managing leadership is the second issues in the organization. Transformational leadership style is very important because it encourages the employee to perform better in any situation. The leadership theory that relates to the issue is the transformational leadership style.This is one of the theories which help the organisation to maintain the interaction between the employees and the higher authority to come up with the best decision that benefits all the members of the organisation (Berkovich, 2016). Therefore, these theories are relevant and impactful for the organisation in order to eradicate the issues in the organisation.

Problem-Solving Objectives

In order to resolve this problem, the organisation need to adopt different leadership style in order to keep employees motivated and encouraged during tough time. The leadership style that organisation can adopt is transformational (Kossieris, MakropoulosOnof,&Koutsoyiannis, 2018). This style is the most effective leadership style in the business world as it aids the organisation to come up with decisions that benefit the employees as well as the organisation. This involves leaders in order to team up with employees together and perform better. This theory impacts that decision-making process of the organisation and Brilliant Lights need to take appropriate decision at this tough time. The next issue that organization highlights is managing innovation in the organisation.

This issue can be eradicated by the organisation by adopting Lewis change model(Galli, 2019). It not only helps the organisation to make innovative products but also helps the organisation to manage the other activities. This model comprises of three stages that is unfreeze, change and analysis. This model represents an entirely different procedure which widely used in the corporate world for modern changes in the organisation. These are the changes that need to be added to the organisation in order to eradicate the key issues that the organization is facing. Considering the needs and demand of the customer the organisation needs to build up the product and strategies as per customer requirements.

Implementation Action Plan

Action Plan for the first issue that is managing the leadership in the organisation. For this plan, the roles and responsibility in order to manage leadership are under Doug. He thoroughly needs to understand the transformational leadership style and then deliver it to the employees who are highly needed at this time. The task for this is to train the employees in such a way that they can easily manage their working and their performance in a tough time. Resources need for this action is the time and potential of Doug in order to be an effective leader in the organisation. He needs to motivate and encouraged with the employees and take decisions that involve their ideas and innovation(Turnnidge&Côté, 2018). The time frame for this action will be 2-3 months and the members of the organisation need to review the leadership style by giving feedback. On the other hand, managing the innovation in the organisation can be eradicated by adopting Lwei’s Model in the organisation which needs time money and potential of Julie and Doug. The board needs to understand the required changes in the organisation by unfreezing changing and freezing process. It takes two to three months to complete this cycle and give long term stability to your organisation.
