Introduction to Nursing

The subject “nursing” has continuously struggled itself with the development of the leadership knowledge, attributes as well as skills so that it can bring an adequate amount of stability, growth, and professional effectiveness. In the modern era, nursing practices have been evolving at a higher amount that is their role in the delivery of health care (Greer, 2013,p.60). Hence to be a perfect leader, the nurses need to acquire all levels of leadership skills through which both the dynamic and the uncertain environments can get influenced. In this context delegation of care turns out to be important for every nurse or sharing of the adequate responsibilities that is the transfer in the responsibilities from one care provider classification to other based on which the rapid system-wide changes could be created (Joan, 2020). This way the nurse leaders could be able to play a significant role in the complex adaptive system having strong care provider culture with adequate quality care and patient outcomes. In the assessment, the three important core values will be identified which helps in the development of the leadership philosophies backed by sufficient scholarly articles along with the analysis of one leadership style with characteristics important for the nurse leader (National League for Nursing, 2020).

Core Values Supporting the Development of Leadership Philosophies and Analysis of One Leadership Style

For the development of leadership philosophy, in my context, I think that the nurse leaders need to possess certain competencies through the effective combination of training, professional expertise as well as personal preferences through the development of unique knowledge and the skills. From the critical analysis of (Roxane, 2015,p.8), I understand that one of the important core values for a nurse to be the perfect leader in society is through active involvement and participation in the community-participation through which, they can easily acquire the required enthusiasm. I think that there needs to be the active involvement of the nurses in teaching the scholar students who will be the future nursing professional based on which the community development can be easily met (Roxane, 2015,p.8). According to my concern and realization, I think that some of the important core values which the nurses should adopt for the development of leadership philosophy are caring, integrity, and diversity.

Caring: As per Greer (2013,p.60)delegation of care is nothing but the transferring of responsibility from one person to another person through which the nurses can be able to manage themselves within the complex adaptive system through focusing on quality care and improved level of patient outcomes. In this context, one of the effective models which the nurse should realize at the time of delegating the responsibilities is known as Leadership Education Model where the nurses should also adhere to some of the multifaceted communication skills based on which the delivery of the care for the patients will be more focused as well as quality-oriented. According to my observation, I think that a culture of caring is defined as one of the important aspects of the nursing profession through which the commitment of delivering quality care for the mass. As per Julia (2016,p.396), the organizational activities get managed in both participative and person-focused manner based on which the individual abilities have been understood by taking into consideration the best interest of all stakeholders. This way, the holistic approaches on leadership get developed which focused on relationship leadership and staff empowerment based on which robust care culture can be easily developed.

Integrity: For the development of leadership philosophy, I think that integrity can be explained as one of the important qualities of the nurse, to be honest, and fair in treating the patients based on which a good relationship between the nurse and the patient can get developed. After critically analyzing the outlook of Roxane (2015,p.8), I think that one’s forthrightness, trustworthiness is important to create a successful nurse. This way nurse who possesses integrity among her other core character traits is best suited for future success in terms of patient care. I think that through integrity, the character of an individual gets rightly defined and this way the individual that is the nurse can be successfully able to develop code of professional ethics, justices, and honesty with the help of which the patient’s mind can get healed easily along with their mind and soul In the context of integrity, I think that the nursing leaders are creative and at the same time also efficient enough in taking risks. The nursing leaders lose credibility if the proposed solutions found to be impractical and unrealistic. The nurse leaders in the context of the development of leadership philosophy should make the use of the language adeptly to convey compassion and concern for the patients (Julia, 2016,p.397).

Diversity: The term diversity in nursing leadership refers to a situation that shows how the treatment of the patient when the patient will act violently towards the nurse for her different culture and religion. As per my observation, the patient rejects the treatment from the nurse if the nurse belongs from a different society, different socio-economic status, etc. The different religious beliefs, as well as political beliefs, ultimately affect the mentality of the patient in receiving the treatment from the nurses (National League for Nursing, 2020). Despite all these negativities, it is important for the nursing staff to celebrate the richness as well as the differences and should follow socio-economic policies and rules to serve the community well. Diversity in nursing is important since it is the combination of different thoughts, cultures, and ideas which hence brings forth the creativity, collaboration as well as innovation and according to me this ultimately helps in bringing ultimate patient care and satisfaction. This way the health of current and future demographics can lead to a better path (Sherron, 2017,p.397).

In this entire context, relational leadership is important to be followed by the nurse leaders where the primary focus will be on the development of the relation between persons and it should make the involvement of certain characters or features like emotional intelligence, resonances, wellbeing, and individual commitments. Through this, the quality of the productivity that is the caring attitude towards patients should also be developed with positive patient outcomes (Joan, 2020).

Conclusion on Nursing

To conclude, the healthcare delivery system is constantly demanding by nature daily where the collaboration turns out to be highly important so that the patient-centered care and the engagement of the communities can be dealt efficiently so that the health needs can be addressed adequately. It is the responsibility of the nurse leaders to possess some of the valuable professional knowledge and skills through which the long term success can be achieved to improve the collaborative work in transforming health.
