My first goal is to complete my education by doing a bachelor's degree in nursing. I want to finish studying and gain expertise so that I can help people with mental disabilities and problems. For doing so, I would first find a suitable college of nursing where I can finish my three-year bachelor's course and then would enrol myself into. I would in addition to that show that I meet the requirement of Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's (NMBA) English language skills registration standards (NSW government, 2015).
My second goal will be to work with mentally disabled patients in the future after I complete my education. I want to work with them because they are the vulnerable people of society and they need extra support and help (Dickens et al., 2019). So, for that, I will find a job in a mental healthcare setting so that I can work for welfare for them.
My third goal will be to become a registered nurse. After finishing my bachelor's degree, I would apply to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) to practice nursing in the country. I would further choose a clinical speciality in the mental health field (NSW government, 2015).
My fourth goal will be to provide patient-centred care. I can do this by following NMBA standards which state that a registered nurse should think critically and should be involved in therapeutic relationships. It also mentions about conducting assessments and making a therapeutic plan for the patient, besides, to provide correct and safe practice to the diseased individual and would give quality nursing practice. The standards also talk about evaluating outcomes and working with the best available evidence (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, 2020).
My fifth goal is to bloom in my professional and personal life by maintaining a work-life balance. I would plan on doing that by checking that I do not experience fatigue and exhaustion from working in the mental healthcare setting. I would maintain my personal, client-related and professional life differently and would try to solve problems with the best solutions that are available to me (Ashraf et al., 2019).
