1. Teaching and Learning Philosophy

I believe in the role of a teacher as a guide and facilitator who can help the learners through classroom instructions and imparting knowledge. A teacher also believes in the effective academic success of learners. With the increased technology, the role of the teacher has been changed with a designer of powerful learning, community developer, connector and activator and partner in learning. As a teacher, an individual need to play different roles at the same time such as resource developer, planner, assessor, facilitator, role model and information provider. As a role model, a teacher influences the students to interact in the community and fulfil the citizenship role (AITSL, 2017; Noddings, 2018).

A learner is a key element in society with an active role in education. Through the interaction and participation in the classroom, students can learn and understand the needs of the community and act in a receptive manner. I believe a student attends the class on regular basis and organize the study material and time accordingly. However, a student gathers wisdom and knowledge in the school to enhance the society (AITSL, 2017; Noddings, 2018).

I am teaching because of my high interest in the betterment of society. A teacher can change the life of students and the whole society through knowledge and learning. I believe in finding better opportunities for individuals that can make a positive impact on society. A change in society is possible only with a teacher. The responsibilities and roles of a teacher are not limited to teaching or education. It can be identified as far beyond the classroom (AITSL, 2017; Noddings, 2018). Through my teaching capabilities, I can change the lives of many students and bring a positive attitude in society by helping them to opt for the right decisions.

Good teaching for me is making a difference in society and student's lives. Through a little help, students can get success in their lives and pursue their passion with the right path. Good teaching helps the students to identify the right and wrong paths and manage their strengths effectively. It develops interest among students to learn and gain knowledge that can change their future (AITSL, 2017; Noddings, 2018).

My students can expect a responsible and curious teacher who believes in their innate capabilities. They expect that the teacher will inspire and engage them for the academic curriculum and fulfil the necessary needs of learning. Respect, responsible behaviour, leadership qualities, effectively prepared for class, attentive, positive attitude and participatory behaviour are expected by students for a teacher (AITSL, 2017; Noddings, 2018).

As a teacher, my professional learning needs revolve around students and their needs to learn and grow effectively. Engagement in professional conversations, preparing lesson plans, managing formative assessment, maintaining student’s data, classroom observation reports and preparing professional development plans are some of my significant professional learning needs. A learning culture promotes a powerful professional learning environment and enhances leadership skills in a teacher (AITSL, 2017; Noddings, 2018). I believe in professional learning for successful teaching outcomes and managing the best conditions for a learner.

2. Relevant Clearances Required for Teaching

To become a teacher, it is necessary that an individual must fulfil all the essential requirements such as teaching qualifications, criminal history check, working with children clearance and pre-service teacher agreement form. These are the essential requirements for a teacher and to work with children in an effective manner. I am eligible for teaching in Australia with my qualifications and all required clearances. National Coordinated Criminal History Check is essential for all the prospective employees to ensure that the Screening Clearance Number is issued by the government and the person is cleared from all the crimes (AITSL, n.d.; AITSL, 2017; CDU, n.d.).

3. Reflection on Documenting Pieces of Evidence

It is necessary to reflect on the artefacts collected by an individual to demonstrate the relevant skills as a teacher. These artefacts represent a particular piece of work including the experiences gained by an individual. Appropriate information can easily be derived from the documenting pieces of evidence with effective quality. Through a reflection on the artifacts, I can get to know about my strengths, believes, weaknesses and skills. As a teacher, it is necessary to fulfil all the clearances and maintain effective behaviour to meet the needs of society. Reflection helps in evaluating my own skills and capabilities including teaching clearances that are essential for the profession. Working with standards and establishing a professional mindset is essential to meet the professional needs at work (AITSL, 2014).

To meet the Graduate Teacher Standards, I can demonstrate my teaching strategies, documented reflections, meeting logs of a mentor, lesson plans and observation notes that can be gained throughout my learning experience. These artifacts clearly showcase my experience and understanding of learning to meet the needs of the profession. Required clearances are also necessary for the Graduate Teacher Standards with specific needs to present evidence for working with children. National Coordinated Criminal History Check and working with children clearance can be gained by the Department’s Criminal Record Information System and Department of Education respectively (AITSL, 2014; Tur, Marin & Challinor, 2016).

I have two major artefacts which are essential for a professional teacher. These artefacts are National Coordinated Criminal History Check and working with children clearance. As per the standards defined by AITSL, these clearances are essential to know the students and their learning behaviour supported by a safe environment (AITSL, 2014; Tur, Marin & Challinor, 2016). I will present these documents as my supporting evidence while applying for a professional teacher post. Teaching and learning require some specific skills which can be easily demonstrated through the supporting evidence in the form of artefacts (AITSL, 2017; Noddings, 2018). My skills and capabilities can be identified through my qualification and other certificates.
