Introduction to Post-Secondary Education

Post-secondary education includes varied learning plans that are taken once the secondary learning is accomplished. This type of education is generally carried out in Community University, professional qualifications, undergraduate learning, and graduate education. One key feature to note is that post-secondary education is considered to be extremely superior and focused than that of secondary learning. Post-secondary education contains a wide range in which undergraduate is permissible to decide on for any theme that they are concerned about. Furthermore, Post-secondary education is becoming more disadvantageous than its proposed benefits because of its affordability, mental health concerns, and assurance. The essay aims to analyze the effects of post-secondary education. Finally, the conclusion will summarize the overall analysis.

Career plays a crucial role in the life of any youth. Education and just routine education are trapping the youth today in a wheel within wheels conceptualization of set prejudicial standards. Just educating ourselves is not sufficient (Meyer et al 2019). The call of the day is to inculcate our inherent and latent abilities so that we not shape our personality but also give our contribution to the nation-building and growth of the economy. These days many options are available before the youth to choose a vocation in accordance with their ability and aptitude. That's why they are excelling in the fields they are selecting. Their interest and right guidance through trained faculties help them excel in whatever career they are pursuing. Life is not the matter of just living it, it is modifying and molding it to enable us to serve our country more efficiently and effectively, for this specialized education is more helpful than simple post-secondary education (Ananiadou et al 2019). The price of higher education is increasing per year and that is an alarming situation for every parent. Reasonableness of post-secondary education is flawed because every year because of rivalry in the colleges, the costs go up.

Not only is there competition between the students to succeed, but there is also competition between the universities to attract more students, which is further deteriorating the quality of the academics in those institutions. Since 1983 the rate at which the price of a college education has increased is far steeper than the increase in the price of goods and services (Bernal and Hadinger 2016). The average cost of attending a reputed university in the United States of Australia is near AUD$20,000. With such a high cost of attendance, it is nearly impossible for students who come from low-income backgrounds to get into colleges without taking on debt. Recently, total student loans hit a $1 trillion threshold. Today, thousands of dollars are paid by the parents to colleges so that their children can get job security later in life but still every year students graduate from the college with expensive degrees and no job.

One of the reasons why students from the low-income background cannot afford an education is that "there is no doubt that costs are going up, and debt is accumulating at an uncomfortable rate for many students". It can be witnessed in the past years that college degrees are serving just a nominal job after graduation. But if we look at famous billionaires like Bill Gates are Mark Zuckerberg who was college dropouts and still are successful than most of the people in this world. From them, we come to know that if we acquire and master a skillset nothing can stop us from reaching the heights of success. Mental health is a big concern while pursuing higher education (Rodríguez et al 2016). Post-secondary education requires lots of time and attention to the studies and also a huge amount of effort into one's chosen major. Evidence reported that post-secondary education gave a lot of stress (Sievertsen 2016).

People who fall into mental illness and illegal substance use are students who are trying to get out of the stress. Moreover "studies have shown that stress, sleep loss, and depression are commonplace in the college, student population”. So, it is evident from these facts that post-secondary education can lead to high health risks. Sometimes students even end up taking counseling sessions so that they can overcome the stress caused by the college. Because of stressing the cases for suicide ideation and practices, self-damage reports, emergency advising needs, dietary problems, past sexual injury and different things have been expanded. These sorts of issues are disservices for the understudies who need to achieve their objectives in later life. Consequently, it makes an enormous measure of weight to the understudy which will probably make them bomb in accomplishing advanced education.

Higher education sometimes can have more cons than pros due to its cost, health issues, and debt loans. One of the major reasons why post-secondary education has a disadvantage because of its rise in cost per year (Park 2019). Even though it offers an alternate focal point it likewise contains disadvantages that can have a huge effect on one's choice in seeking after a post-education. An individual goes to college so that they can achieve financial stability but nowadays college degrees fail to provide job security and financial stability. In post-secondary education, one should always look for open doors and opportunities if left unchecked post-secondary education can have more disadvantages than its advantages. The demand for and worth of post-secondary education is superior to ever and will continue to augment as machines take on more physical and basic intellectual tasks. Post-secondary education is not an accurate alternative for everyone. However, some evidence recommends that individuals with potential are being left out, or are not considering all options as being uniformly unlocked to them. It is necessary, then, to better recognize any systemic barricade that may be distressing their Post-secondary education choice and pathway (Haapanen and Böckerman 2017).

Social, geographical, and financial factors can influence how scholars imagine about the future choice obtainable to them. In the case where undergraduate may emerge to be unenthusiastic, a range of multifaceted and inter-reliant external factors may be creating an obstruction. When young people think their future career potential to be restricted, or cannot even picture a significant role for themselves in the future, it stands to reason that they may not observe the significance of expending effort in school or arrange for post-secondary education. The costs, benefits, effect, necessity, and different paths to post-secondary education are often quite unknown to learners, their parents, and their society. This lack of information can be further intensifying when the imperative people in a learner's life share imprecise information, prejudice, or anticipation toward one pathway versus another (Sievertsen 2016). When this unfinished observation of post-secondary education is joined with the other obstruction outlined, it is simple to observe how ensuring equivalent admission to learning is a multifaceted and challenging issue. It is a concern that must begin to be addressed very early in learner educational days and be constant through numerous channels. Furthermore, the individuals who further their studies face one challenge as the amount of the value-added cannot be measured.

Conclusion on Effects of Post-Secondary Education

It has been concluded from the overall report that major barriers highly affect the role and importance of post-secondary education. Despite the impressive growth in recent decades, the sectors face several challenges. The current situation of post-secondary education is concerning the students to think about the available options for the future. In addition, some post-secondary education contains some drawbacks that can make a major impact on one's decision. Furthermore, post-secondary education does not always offer the security needed to attain the goal. Also, post-secondary education does not favor many factors as many students find themselves learning just for the sake of learning. Additionally, many learners go through the system just to pass time as they may not be interested in learning at all costs. Some of them find themselves reading, not because they enjoy, but rather getting good grades. Therefore, all the effects tend to depend on the perception of people and their thoughts.
