Issues with Employment that Are Being Faced by The International Students in Australia Due to The Ongoing Pandemic

Action Plan Proposal

Project Title

Development of a program relating to the issues with employment that are being faced by the International students in Australia due to the ongoing pandemic, COVID-19.

Target Group

The International students belong to countries like Canada, India, etc. The community they wish to study and have a career in is Adelaide Primary Health Network. These students have entered the community that has a population of 1,261,609 people with the land area being 155,309 ha. The population density is 8.12 persons per hectare. The area of specialization in nursing.

Some of the current situations that the nursing students are facing are barriers in education, some are facing a loss of jobs, the market does not have any suitable jobs for them because of the global pandemic[1].

The students who were pursuing their studies in primary health care nurses have been temporarily barred from enhancing their theoretical knowledge and give their practical help to the community. This is because they do not have any internship options. After all, most of the medical staff is nowadays busy looking after the covid patients and so it is difficult to focus on any other aspect of life. However, the Index of Relative Socio-Advantage of the community indicates that the students will be benefitted from the community because when covid ends, they will have a good quality of education, immense job opportunities, and high incomes[2].

Funding available

$30,000 per year for 2 years = total project funding $60,000

Rationale and Background

Overall purpose / Rational and relevance

Aim:

Rationale: The present project is needed so that the problems that the international students are facing due to the ongoing pandemic, COVID-19, can be resolved, especially the issue of employment. The proposed project will be responsive to the assessed needs of the International student community along with their issues by providing them with the most appropriate solutions that can help them get jobs and be able to earn during the tough times. This way, the students will be able to support themselves as well as their families in the first place. Secondly, society will be served as well because the students will be motivated to donate a small part of their earnings.

AIM: The current project aims to help international students find jobs in the Adelaide Primary Health Network most suitable to their area of expertise.

Outcomes / Impact

By the end of the project, the students will be able

· To have a sound education in the community of Adelaide Primary Health Network as they expected when they entered the community.

· To complete their education by the best possible means in the current times of global pandemic.

· To re-establish their career goals, which were kind of faded away because of the disturbance by Covid 19 in the education that they received.

· To have a clear direction as to which area of medical nursing they will pursue their career in.

· To be able to find jobs in the Adelaide Primary Health Network suitable to their areas of expertise.

· To serve the community is more equipped with theoretical knowledge especially during these difficult times of global pandemic.

Approach

Implementation

Activities and Strategies

The project outcomes are achieved by adopting the following strategies. The overarching strategy is to include all the students who are studying and all of them who have been badly affected in terms of jobs due to Covid 19.

The strategies that the program intends to use to achieve the above-mentioned targets are as follows:

· The first and the most important strategy is to improve the quality of education that is being received by International students. This is because they have chosen the Adelaide Primary Health Network community on the basis that they will receive a world-class education. Therefore, firstly this expectation will be fulfilled by deploying more quality educators in the education system.

· The second most strategy is related to the ways the students will get the education. The safest way to educate students is by teaching them virtually. Therefore, technologically advanced teaching practices will be taken into consideration in times of global pandemic. This strategy also aims at keeping safe the health and well-being of the students because it is still not fully safe to step out of the houses because of the coronavirus.

· The last strategy that will be adopted will be that a quota can be set in each organization for the International students who are looking for a job. For this, the relevant organizations will be approached and they will be requested to keep a minimum of seats for offering jobs to the potential International students. However, the definition of potential will be left on the organizations to decide as per the requirements of the job position.

Project timeline

The duration of the project is 24 months.

The timeline of the project is expected to be as follows:

· In 3 months: The required technology will be purchased or adopted, as the case may be.

· In 6 months: The International students will be used to the know-how of using the advanced technology by which they are being taught.

· In 9 months: Possibly the efforts of approaching the organizations for having a quota for international students will be successful and the capable ones will be employed.

· In 12 months: The students will be placed in their desired organization or at least in an organization that acknowledges their area of expertise.

The milestones that need to be achieved during these 12 months are as follows:

· The International students will have to be made extra excellent in their areas of studies so that there is left no chance of rejection when they apply for a job.

· The technology that is to be adopted will have to be the latest one so that the International students are not behind anyone.

It will contribute in the long term to changing people’s lives (capacity building) by strengthening the theoretical aspect of the field of study.

Stakeholders

The following will benefit from this program:

· International students

· The Adelaide Primary Health Network community

· The organizations approached for having International student quota

The key partners are:

· The providers of the required technology

· The technologically sound educators

· The organizations that will be approached

The ownership, rights, interests, opportunities, needs, and participation of the direct beneficiary groups and key partners are ensured by creating and maintaining systematic records.

Budget

The total income for this project is $60,000. (Detailed budget discussed in Annexe A).

Project management

Project management and implementation

· The technology adoption will be taken care of by a hired IT specialist because he will have the required knowledge as to which technology is the most appropriate.

· The task of providing education will be carried out by the recruited teachers because they are designated to do so.

· The manager of the project will approach the organizations because he will be the best person to represent the program to them.
