Introduction to Environmental Movement

The environment is all about sunshine and nature, including flora and fauna. A leaf is exposed to bright sunshine that can transpire an amount of water several times its weight during a summer day. Rapid evaporation is sustained by a supply of heat from the atmosphere and by a movement of water within the plant preventing the desiccation of leaf tissues. Every season is important to build the environment either summers, winters, rainy, or autumn. Evaporation of water plays an important role in setting up the environment (Monteith, 1965). Further, it has been discussed in this paper about the responsibilities of an individual since its growing age towards the welfare of its surrounding. As the clean surroundings shall motivate an individual to maintain the environment for the future as well. A kid should be guided by his or her parents since its early age to take care of the environment and responsibilities of a person regarding the safety of nature.

In today's world, nature is in danger due to many harmful human activities, which includes access emission of pollution through factories, motor vehicle, burning up the plastics and harmful materials, usage of harmful technologies with high radiation power, and many more. Such gadgets and usages by human beings have brought our environment into the category of extinction. Extinction here means to end and the situation of endangered things and circumstances. Flora and fauna have been in major effect due to the loss of forests and natural habitat. An increase in population has also played a major role in the destruction of the environment (Birnie,&Boyle, 1994). The main context of this paper is to inform about the environment and the positive usages of environment for the human society. Humans should learn to pay respect to nature and follow the law of nature with the cycle provided. Everything present in nature is very important and so is interconnected to the lifestyles of a human being (Boyer, 1982).

Stephanie Roth Sisson, in Soring After Spring: How Rachel Carson Inspired the Environmental Movement, tells about a story of a girl who for the sake of environment observed things and tried her best to bring changes in the surrounding with the efforts. As a child, she lived in a world of nature and enjoyed the rhythm of nature. In this story, she also observes that how things are connected and how every situation is co-related with every change in nature. As she grew up she started loving the nature and because of the love and affection towards environment she did not see the harmful changes which were beginning to happen, the story also depicts the life of Rachel as a scientist and writer who has researched about every single change in the flora and fauna, she with her writing skill and books amazed the world about the knowledge on the environment and how the modern movement for the environment took place. Rachel Carson is an environmentalist who took a stand for the sake of saving the environment from staying silent to raise voice for the protection of nature.

According to H. Joseph Hopkins, Jill McElmurry, in The Tree Lady: The True Story of How One Tree-Loving Woman Changed a City Forever, tells about a lady who loves trees and has lived in a place full of nature and trees, the name of the lady is Katherine Olivia, she grew up among the towering pines and redwoods in Northern California. As she was the first woman to graduate from the University of California with a degree in science and took a job in the far south which was a dry state San Diego with no tress and greenery. She felt that the place requires trees and plants and it mandatory to build nature, and so Kate decided the same to transform San Diego a desert state into a green state. For the conversion of the same, she began a movement that later on was a success and the town was transformed into a green city from the dry place. She transformed the city into big and beautiful gardens, and after several years when she arrived, she saw the same changes in the green place which she created with dedication and talent. The story, therefore, inspires us to take care of the environment in the same way as we take care of our things at home after all environment is something which when changes every single person shall be affected. The story also motivates you to follow your dreams and passion, to utilize your talents for the sake of good, by staying strong and face each adversity is sure to resonate with readers either young or old.

According to Miranda Paul, in One Plastic Bag: Isatou Ceesay and the Recycling Women of Gambia, tells about the story of a girl of Gambian who came up with the ways to recycle the plastic bags and save the environment from destruction. The plastic bags which littered the landscape in her nation, a noble act of a girl that changed the entire environment and rejuvenated the surrounding in health and clean way, also led to the major transformation in the community. Every resource can be utilized in certain ways the point is the technique to use and utilize it. Plastic is a non-degradable substance which even buried destroys the soil and makes the land barren by ending its essential mineral and proteins, therefore, usage of plastic should be reduced and the plastic bags or other materials which are in use should be recycled, this is what the author has explained through this story.

Conclusion on Environmental Movement

After analyzing all the three books above mentioned the knowledge which I received is that environment plays an important role in setting and fixing up the daily works of a human being. Humans are directly connected with the environment in every sense. Without a positive environment, humans cannot survive, also affecting the cycle shall harm the population of human beings in every aspect. All three authors have tried and explained the same thing to protect the environment in every possible way as it can be harmful to future generations to work and to live in a polluted environment.
