Course Recommendation Letter to a Friend

July 10, 2020

Dear XYZ;

I hope you’re doing well. I’ve received your message asking for the details of the evolutionary psychology course. I would like to recommend you to take this course.

My first warning to you is that your plans will change, and that is OK! I motivate you to accept change and welcome new ideas. I think you have made the right choice and are heading to the best course on campus. A psychology department is a special place, one very close to my heart. Due to dedicated faculty and staff, you will be subjected to a rigorous curriculum, but I guarantee you it's worth it. You'll learn about personality theories, social growth, and many others. In psychology, you will find certain disciplines that attract you more than others. That would be natural! You don't have to love every psychological element to become a "smart" psychology major. A wonderful feature of this department is you can cater to your curriculum to focus on classes that best fit your interests.

I was particularly interested in clinical and positive psychology, so I took many electives to improve my awareness of these topics. Above all, you'll learn more about yourself and life in general. You will be able to apply the skills you gain in the college to your daily life.

The beauty of the psychology major is its applicability to many relevant career opportunities. When I entered college, I was 100% sure I was going to use my psychology degree to become a mental health counselor. That isn't true anymore, though. My views have changed throughout my years. Psychology is not only treatment; it is research, teaching, supervision, and applied settings (Lewis, Al-Shawaf, Conroy-Beam, Asao, & Buss, 2017). As a major psychologist, I learned about the vast opportunities available to me! I became fascinated by research and teaching and decided that the academic route is for me.

Finally, enjoy your time as a psychology major at the college, it is gone before you can imagine. But, if you think that evolutionary psychology does not meet your educational desires, then there is nothing wrong with switching your course. If you seem to have no idea what you plan to do after graduation with your degree, don't panic. Take the time to figure out what you are interested in and want in a profession and then decide.

Again, just give me a call if you need any more details.
