Globalization has been one of the popular issues in defining the cultural development of society and human civilization. One needs to understand that globalization puts an important effect on the people and their culture. Globalization at the cultural level is the amalgamation of thoughts and ideas of different cultures and applying it wherever is possible. According to Elder, 2020, due to globalization, the cultural difference is accepted and people are following it as well (Elder, 2020).
I feel globalization is the result of interchanging worldly views and opinions and also accepting the various aspects of the culture all around the world. I am a 27 year old white Australian working in the music industry and have come across many other communities that contribute to our country in many ways. Globalization has paved the way in all prospects of development for individuals and the nation. This also means that globalization is the intermingling of the people at the international level contributing to their culture, dialects, and social prosperity. I accept globalization as a process that helped me meet new people and their new culture. The effect of globalization is positive because a lot of nations are formed due to globalization. It is due to globalization that cricket has been apprehended and accepted by Australians despite being the game’s origin from an English background. This acceptance and change is not only accepted in Australia, I feel many other countries have also followed the same trend and one such country is India. According to Shepherd et al., 2017, it is the result of globalization that the Australian Indigenous political views have been able to be formed bonded with the other indigenous groups around the world (Shepherd et al., 2017).
Globalization has put an immense effect on the Australian culture from which I belong to. There have been positive and negative effects on the people and the overall community. In my opinion, the impact of globalization on culture has been positive because it allows the intermingling of different cultures. It puts a positive impact on the population because there are cultures that can get adapted by the others into their own. The different people from different cultures become a part and also help the nation economically (Ladhari et al., 2015).
In my opinion as well and what I have been experiencing, globalization is also about the exchange of culture, social, and technological aspects. Determining that fashion, food and music are aspects of culture that have been traveling from one border to the other and have come into existence in other parts of the world due to globalization.
My neighborhood has an Indian family and we have a nice and warm relationship with them. The delicacies made in our houses are often shared. Since then, I have been liking Indian food and its taste. It has been a year they have shared our neighborhood and the state is we have been involved in their customs and festivals they celebrate. The experiences mentioned have a positive effect on me as a person and made me tolerant. I have my friend circle with diversity and we gain experiences of each other's community which helps us to know about their religion, beliefs, and culture.
According to Zajda, 2015, globalization allows the intermingling of various other cultures and due to this, there is a cultural amalgamation on the work culture and employment (Zajda, 2015). It accounts for giving opportunities to all on an equal basis. I am from the music industry in Australia and I was a part of a show which was managed through radio where a program was organized to encourage the Aboriginals in singing competition. Globalization has made the reach easy that is meant to be communicated. The advertisements were done through a technological system. To encourage participation, the Aboriginal population was targeted with a certain amount of reservation. The promotion was made by the singers and artists who were established aboriginals. Globalization has made the community stronger and helped them to come in contact with their rights and technologies (Zajda, 2015).
The result of the program that encouraged aboriginals was quite successful as well. The agenda made by reserving and giving equal chance to the community increased the overall participants and it can be taken in consideration that globalization made it possible.
It is due to globalization that Australia has a mixed breed of culture. In the end, I would like to conclude that globalization has helped nations all over the world to grow and develop but does come with a sign of inequality.
