The presentation topic was to choose a particular transmedia production and analyze its different aspects. The production I chose for this presentation was the Harry Potter series; the long tale that started with the publishing of its first novel in 1997 and continues till date. The Harry Potter series was chosen by me for two reasons. First, Harry Potter is a well-established franchise with 7 novels, 8 full-length movies, an official website, numerous videogames, fan pages, videos, chat rooms etc. According to me, this presentation was a great opportunity to dive deeper into the world of Harry Potter and understand how exactly the Wizarding World of Harry Potter came into existence. Along with that, I was curious to apply the various theories of transmedia productions and find out how well-acclaimed the world of Harry Potter is in reality. As expected, the findings were not at all surprising. With millions of copies, tickets and merchandise sold, the Harry Potter series is one of the prime examples of Transmedia productions. In this presentation, we take a look at the drill ability and extractability of the franchise and see how it slowly developed into a world of its own. This example can help individuals understand how a novel slowly develops into one of the most widely acclaimed series. This presentation not only helped me gain deeper knowledge about the Harry Potter series but also helped me better understand the various terms and concepts that are used in a Transmedia production. It was fascinating to see all the concepts come to life with the help of this presentation.
