With advanced technology, there are many things that are changing in the world. Crooning is a new way of singing softly with the advancement of electrical microphone (“To sing forevermore: How the microphone, radio, and the Crooners changed the music industry”, 2020). However, it was still a tough task to differentiate between good and bad crooning. In 1966, Bob Dylan, an American singer, and musician introduced the world with the new electric band by which one can clearly hear the sound of hand-clapping between numbers (Thompson, 2020). The pace of technological advancement is rapid.
BBC stated that crooning was ‘unnatural’, they said that these voices are artificial and are insulting the singers who are coming here alone to sing their original voice. Bob’s way of going electric was rejected by the folk movement.
Art technology was also opposed. The union of musicians object programming drum machines and objected to giving work to art singers. As they felt that drummer has many talents as compared to programming drummer. It says that electrical voices do not have any feel what a person gets while enjoying music. They believe with this technology the new generation is replacing the old ones. According to a British newspaper story in 1985, it has been revealed that electric music (also called bad music) is false and if we allow it to enter the music world it will only increase the opportunity for the false while leaving the right ones behind (Brown, 1985). People were not happy with the increased technology of music and it created an issue of power and manipulation.
I believe that there is a kind of music even electrical music needs talent and timing to keep it perfect. Nowadays people are praising it and feel it quite easier to learn. Everyone has a right to show their talent. There is a relationship between art and technology, artificial music or crooning is considered as a new technology created by an individual. Technology actually helps people to create democracy and new opportunities for an individual (Dickson, 2017). In my view, both technologies have talent and creating things for the people which is very important in today’s world.
