A patient was admitted to the hospital diagnosed with diabetes and asthma. He had an accident and was bleeding. As a nurse, I did his wound suturing bare handedly and after few days he developed a bacterial infection and his healing rate also decreased.
As a nurse, I felt bad that the patient developed complications after being admitted to the hospital that was not related to the problem for which the patient was admitted for.
The patient showed difficulty in breathing, poor wound healing rate, abnormal mucus, and weakness. These symptoms suggested that he had developed a bacterial infection due to the absence of aseptic techniques.
The doctor should be informed about the patient’s condition. A diabetic patient has a slow healing rate and brings asthmatic it is important to provide patients with aseptic treatments like using sterile equipment and gloves while suturing to avoid infections that may deteriorate his health (Andersen, 2020).
To protect the patient that is highly susceptible to infection development it is necessary to follow aseptic techniques in nursing like no contact methods, sterile instruments, and maintaining hygienic environment to prevent viral or bacterial infections (Clare & Rowley, 2018).
In the future, if such case arises, then it is the prime duty of health providers in nursing to use aseptic techniques to ensure health safety of the patient by the use of sterilized masks, gloves, keeping closed doors, sterilization of wounds before suturing, and limited entry to prevent infectious chances.
