Indigenous Pregnant Women in Hospital

Settings can be defined as the physical borders which comprise of a type of individuals like indigenous pregnant women who have specific roles. This setting receives interventions which merge in these components to minimize risks and conditions that contributeto illness. Hospitals have a critical role in promoting health, avoidingillness and providing recovery facilities, therefore, it can be considered for health promotion.The issues which the indigenous pregnant women face are the health risk like smoking, alcohol and drug and medical complications like overweight, diabetes, hypertension and mental health problems.

The main concern for the indigenous pregnant women and their babies is smoking which has enormous risk factors with it. The adverse influences of cigarettes affect the health of the indigenous pregnant women, pre and post-delivery, and also their infant health.Various strategies are used to resolve these health issues in the indigenous pregnant women which include quitting smoking among pregnant Indigenous women. They should be motivated in this. Following are the points which should be considered:

• Some approaches should be followed to decrease tobacco usage in Indigenous pregnant women(Voaklander et al. 2020)
• Eliminating tobacco advertising and decreasing access to liquor for Indigenous pregnant women to stop smoking and liquors
• The training health-care should provide training to Indigenous pregnant women to inform the harmful effects of smoking and drinking.

For reducing the mental health issues in the Indigenous pregnant women there are initiatives in which fathers-to-be mightassistin their role in supporting their pregnant companion positively. Also, a father should play a positive role after the child’s birth. Improved transportation facilities are provided to assist Indigenous pregnant women to access facilities in a better way.

The problems linked with mental health are addictions, depression and trauma history.Indigenous pregnant women should be presented with a positive environment to come out of depression and stress. This type of positive and loving environment becomes a strength for Indigenous pregnant women(Voaklander et al. 2020). The pregnancy ofIndigenous pregnant womenshouldbe celebrated. This culturally safe, positive and strengths-based approach is recommended and will promote good mental health of the Indigenous pregnant women.

This program is supported by the international evidence and adapted by Australia to fulfil the necessities of the Australian health care system. This initiative assists the indigenous women in the routine pregnancy, postnatal maternity care and birth. The program is funded by the Australian Government which helps to enhance the pregnancy results by assisting pregnant women and providing good preventive health practices in the hospitals. It also supports in improving the child’s health and growth(Voaklander et al., 2020). It assists parents to form a vision for future including education and searching for work.
