The article aims to explore how people with dementia take part in the decision-making procedure regarding the day-care along with developing a typology of trajectories for participation. In this article, the authors have concluded that instead of completely involving or not involving the dementia patient, shared decision-making with the person is possible and quite reliable because the shared decision-making process focuses on the informed preferences instead of initial preferences. However, The article is useful for both the literature review as well as in nursing profession as for the literature review purpose the article reflects an extensive research on the topic that gives a thorough understanding of all the aspects regarding the participation of the patient in the process of decision making and for the nursing profession, the article is important as it helps in providing new affective approaches for the nursing care management for the dementia people.

The article examines the capacity issues of the people with dementia and how they can take participate in the decision making process for their health care. The authors have stated that the capacity of decision making is associated with the autonomy of an individual. On account of dementia, the authors have analyzed that patients with even mild or rigorous dementia, that have impaired capacity may still have the potentiality to specify their choice and preferences and can show some understanding. However, the authors have also mentioned that this could be done by the assessment of the capacity of that patient and then, they can be involved. The article is useful for the literature review as it describes the key components that are involved in decision-making and the capacity evaluation and this will help in framing an informational literature review. On the other hand, from a nursing perspective, the article is providing enough knowledge for the assessment and helps in understanding the importance of the favourable level of functioning of an individual so that they can make a decision.

The main purpose of the article is to analyze some practical interventions and shared decision-making approaches to facilitate and support multiple aspects of the process of decision-making for people with dementia. In this systematic review, the authors have shown how the lack of opportunity given to the cognitively impaired patients for their participation in decision-making of their health care serves as a barrier in the nursing care management of the patient. Moreover, the article also reflects how involving dementia patients in their decision making are the potential to enhance the quality of their life. The article is useful as it is a systematic review and involves every single aspect that is important to be mentioned. Although, the article is also important in the nursing profession as the learning outcome the review helps in providing the practical interventions and how they can be implemented to enhance the living and health outcomes of the patient.
