  1. The experiences of the children were very heart-touching and the experiences showed that they suffered through a miserable condition. The children’s mouths were washed with soap, they never had the freedom to talk in their language, they are not allowed for various other normal things that white children used to do. Aboriginal children were asked to sit and recite the Bible all the time, indicating that they had no religious support. There was a strict environment due to which they were never allowed to talk to their mothers or parents and they also never received the letters that were written by their mothers. There was no fair treatment and it was wished that their race should die soon. The children were informed wrong information about their mothers or parents so that they develop a feeling of least love for their family. The places where the children were kept were not well structured and had poor resources. The children had no proper clothes, no education, food was also not sufficient and poorly managed system of the institutes. The rudimentary education was removed with the removal of toys and other resources. Many had to sleep empty stomach and many faced strict punishments. There was no respect, no humanity or dignity for these children. There was also no bond of affection for these children with whom they could share their feelings, wishes, or ideas. Moreover, with poor education, employment was also of very low standards and they never enjoyed any holidays in their lifetime. In some cases, the pay was also nit provided or if provided it was all taken away, and the children had to stay without food, pays, and shelter.
  2. Due to colonization, not only the children got affected but many other things had a great impact. The health of the aboriginals got badly affected, this is because, the new policies with colonization the aboriginals were not allowed to get access to various services or offers such as education, health, employment, and many others. With poor education and limited access, some had employment with very low wages or many were unemployed. With their employment and economic and social stress, their choices also got unhealthy such as involvement in smoking and drinking; these factors impacted their health. There was a lot of racism and discrimination at institutes and hospitals as well. Due to which no fair and safe services were made available to them and even the information was also not transferred to them about their rights or services. Aboriginals were not allowed to have access to social gatherings or programs. As a result of all these factors, the community faced major illness issues, premature deaths, high mortality rates, and many suicides as well. These impacts the community emotionally and mentally and the cases of fear, stigma, mental health, self-damaging behavior, and substance abuse increased in this community and impacted their health. Due to all these issues, many developed cardiovascular problems, respiratory issues, trauma, cancer, obesity, and other major issues that cause a high risk to life or health. The people were so tensed about their condition that they started blaming themselves for their race and developed issues of stress and distress. The community started to feel insecure, uncertain, and confused about their present and future lives.
  3. The social determinants include education, race, religion, gender inequality, racial segregation, insecurity of food, inaccessibility of the resources such as choices of food, access to employment, and housing and utility services. The aboriginals, refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers had faced all of these social determinants while trying to get access to health or dental services. These categories of the population never had increased access to dental services as they were never allowed to be a part of the normal society and also due to poor economic status they were unable to afford the cost of the medical services. With the shortage of doctors or health care provides the residents of the refugee camps got poor dental services. Due to high discrimination, the medical or dental needs of the migrants were poorly understood, met, and recognised. They never got the freedom to exercise their basic human rights because of their race. Moreover, in some cases, due to stigma the asylum seekers could not even express their needs for dental care. There were a large number of drop-outs; inadequate license-regulated childcare facilities; inadequate public transport; restricted availability of affordable food; unsafe neighborhood; poor community services for supporting migrants; insecure employment; costly housing; and low coverage of public health care. These social determinants factors limited or restricted the refugees and migrants to get access to dental services. Moreover, with high levels of health inequities and poor control over the health conditions. They use one brush for years and the brushing times were also low that contributed to their poor oral health.
