Studying Law Is About Much More than Becoming a Lawyer, Malcolm Turnbull

Studying law is not just about having a degree but this Legal education has been designed to acquaint the student with the various laws existing in the nation and how they evolve along with the ways they have been interpreted (Dixon, 2018). This legal education is the process of developing critical thinking, ethical reasoning and policy-based analysis in oneself.

Choosing law has always been an enthusiastic approach with the career but getting into the Law School unfolds various aspects of this degree. This semester has paved path for learning, knowledge enhancement and developing skills in various methods. This unit has not only given the opportunity to develop practical skills in the legal context but the guidance of the mentors has also allowed taking several initiatives in crafting the legal reasoning and interpretation of the provisions of the statutes. There were various exposures challenging oneself in research and writing experience in the semester as well. It has also provided the opportunity for the development of advocacy skill and learning the intricate working of the various legislations and their interpretations. The study of various cases with different issues and facts enabled the skills of organising, balancing and thinking critically about the fact which are belonging and the implementation of the legislation. These skills are leading to have an impact on the client counselling along with enhancing the mental ability and capacity which is even going to assist oneself in leading a better and organised life as an individual. The expectation of developing a critical mind which can successfully apply legal analytical reasoning to any situation has been quite successful during this semester. The interaction with the fellow classmates has also had a great impact as it helped in developing interaction skill with ease and smoothness along with comprehending and understanding the perspectives of others concerning the reasoning and interpretation of a given fact or law. There were few difficulties as well but they also contributed to shaping the skills and enhanced learning ultimately. One such difficulty faced during this journey so far has been concerning the difference in opinion and putting forward the perspectives without losing the calmness. One of the best strategies I found while facing this difficulty was to be patient and be a good listener. It also made a significant contribution in understanding the gesture and attitude which must be carried by a law student as well as person wherever there is no meeting of minds concerning any issue either in professional or personal life. This allowed me to learn to have skills to have a healthy discussion and debate even with conflict of perspectives concerning the matter. This learning outcome is significant since the profession as well as personal life requires this ability in any individual to put forward their opinion without disrespecting the perspectives of the others over the same. Encountering the experiences of the fellow batchmates has also enriched my skills and learning particularly in concern with the impact of critical thinking and analytical reasoning which must be implemented in this study. Interaction with mentors and fellow batchmates also provided a glimpse of broader areas of the issues which need to be addressed to ensure a better understanding of the learning outcomes of the unit.

The unit has magnified the significance of developing skills, knowledge and learning which are not only applicable in professional life but are equally important for the person to develop in individual life. The difficulties faced during this unit even allowed to explore the capability to develop strategies which are most suitable to one and implement them successfully to get the outcomes. The interaction ad discussion with fellow batch mates and mentors has enlightened the different aspects which might have not been experienced by one.
