In everyday life, I believe that we in some big or small way have to face the dilemma either ethical or moral. It is only the distinct enormities that determine the sternness of the circumstances. There are a lot of dilemmas that entail a personal choice. I too had to face numerous dilemmas in my life and once such an ethical dilemma is probably experienced by me during college time. A college is a place wherein a student gets a lot of stuff whilst bending the rules and regulations even if it is lawful and not erroneous. It was when I was raising sponsorship in the college for my society. Someone offered a cut or can say bribe in the sponsorship that was rejected by me gladly as I found it illegal. I rejected that because I stand by my morals. Moreover, I do not do anything like that that I know I would regret in my future life. If I would have accepted that commission at that time I could have made it a practice in my life both personal and professional. This behaviour of mine could have led to ruining my whole career in my later life. Therefore, I stood by my principles and values and thought of better let go of such behaviour as I could sense I might become harmful to anyone, even though it meant sacrificing moments of joy. This has been the toughest dilemma in my life for which I had made the most reasonable decision along with all the relevant facts that I had during that time. By this, I have learned that we must follow what we believe and consider is the best and proved to be a realistic path.

I am a person who has always believed in inspiring and motivating people around me through my activities and behaviour and also by setting standards for me. One of my fellow members in the company told me about the FRM exam that it is one of the most difficult exams and since I am required to work in the core field of finance I must understand each aspect of it. However, I believe that if a person is determined and dedicated to doing what he or she aspires to then it can be achieved successfully through the education along with the implementation in the work. For me, it was not a goal to accomplish something in life but it was a goal based on expanding my knowledge. Moreover, when I could qualify for the exam of FRM level 1, many of my colleagues asked me about the exam and how to qualify in it. I could them being optimistic which made me realize that it has been the best achievement in my career that could prove to be inspirational for numerous people with my actions. Moreover, I would love to continue this in my future as well.

I believe that to build a great and effective team or to form an organization, inspiration plays a major role in doing so. This has made me believe that I can prove to be an effective transformational leader which is all about presenting a transparent vision of an organization and inspiring so many people in the workplace towards that particular vision by creating a relationship with the employees, understanding their needs and assisting them in reaching their potential contributing to better outcomes for the company. I am sure that NUS MBA will be helpful for me in understanding people in the workplace through effective management skills.

Since the last 9 years of my span of a career, I have worked and performed within a multicultural work environment. Multiple occasions led me to travel to Paris that made me realize the importance of inter-cultural aspects within a business environment which has a great impact on an individual to be a successful leader. Education indeed has a significant role in the success of one’s career but I do believe that certain decision-making and management skills are equally vital specifically in the world of business and hence I am dedicatedly working towards improving those necessary skills.

The economic crisis in the years 2007 and 2008 made me curious to know about the certain decision that is made within a particular nation such as providing mortgage loans to all those risky customers, lowering down of interest rate, or the introduction of the complex structured product. Currently, we have banks like G-SIB failure of which can result in the economic disaster that we have already experienced a decade ago. These were some of the events that make me curious to study Risk Management which eventually led me to chose to achieve FRM certification.

The reason why I wish to work in the industry of Banking and Finance is that I will be able to identify various risks and then formulate the internal policy for the organization. However, to be successful in such a huge position, management skills are immensely required and due to this I strongly believe that NUS MBA will be helpful for me in all these spheres.
