Part 1: Getting the Right Workforce (Butler and Kangovi 2019)

  1. I agree with the notion that empathetic team players are required in nursing care and healthcare facilities. Empathy is an essential quality that helps the professionals understand the needs of the patients, develop strong communication skills, and ensure the highest quality of care (Reynolds 2017). Therefore, it is crucial to have empathetic team players in healthcare.
  2. In my opinion patient’s expectations can be diverse and therefore an inclusive approach should be followed. Every patient expects to receive the highest quality of care, addressing their needs at priority, and to be treated with dignity. The primary aim of care and purpose of seeking care is common, that is to ensure the beneficence and well-being of the patient and improvement of the health condition that must be achieved with the highest priority.

Part 2: Urgent Care to The Rural Community

  1. How would you go about designing this service?

The service designed should be in alignment with the care needs of the community. Therefore, the first step will be to identify the primary problem, identify the required team members, assemble the team and move to the community area. The team will also be briefed about the emergency problem identified and the roles and responsibilities will be allocated (Liand and Chen 2020). This will ensure shared responsibilities and help address the problem identified in the rural community region. Special care will also be taken to ensure an inclusive and culturally competent approach.

  1. What skills would you need to have in this team?

Soft Skills required for the team members will be cultural competence, time management, effective practice, leadership, strong communication skills, and conflict resolution (Ng 2020). Along with the soft skills, the technical skills will require dealing with emergency health situations, management of vitals, and provision of first aid care.

  1. What would the organisational structure look like?

The organizational structure will be inclusive of a team lead that will manage and allocate the roles and responsibilities. Every member of the team will have to report to the lead and ensure the wellness of the community. The senior members of the team will be acting as mentors that will guide other members for assistance (Dickinson et al. 2017)

  1. What new roles could be considered?

Team leaders, Mentors, and ethics committee should be ensured to have specific roles in the team and function with ethical and cultural considerations of the community to ensure the health and well being.

  1. How might you ensure they practised safely and effectively?

To ensure that safety and security standards are followed, a standard protocol will be developed and shared to all the team members, the team mentors and leads will ensure that all the members function as per the safety protocol for the well being of the community (Chalmers et al. 2017). The standards will be established using national guidelines of health safety and wellness.
