Learning Contract for Team Members

Aim : To decrease the number of staff assaults on the ward in mental health services unit.

Team members and their roles:

1. Member 1 – human resources – will take care of the queries and concerns of the other staff members.
2. Member 2 and member 3 – security personnel’s responsible handling the security of the mental health services unit.
3. Member 4 – Psychiatrist – responsible for attending to the psychiatric needs of the patients.
4. Member 5 and member 6- nurses assisting the psychiatrist in their daily duties.
5. Member 7 – receptionist who handles the front desk and monitors the overall admissions.
6. Member 8 – ward manager – they will manage the overall activities of the mental health ward.

Main task to be completed: the main objective is to ensure that the members of the mental services ward are provided with enough security that they are never in the line of direct threat. Necessary measures also have to be taken to ensure that the patients are attended to in a way that doesn’t lead to any form of aggression in the ward.

The contract will be designed by the ward manager who will use their expertise to understand the weaknesses and strengths of the entire team and allocate jobs and responsibilities as per their specialization.

It is the responsibility of the ward manager to ensure that new technology and adequate spacing for ward patients are facilitated to ensure that no one is hurt. To reduce the amount of assault the ward manager must also ensure that the staff is trained adequately to recognize triggers and aggressors. They must learn how to get the situation under control immediately and they must also be given instruction on how to deal with an un foreseen circumstance.

The author of the contract must have the foresight, vision and resilience to understand the struggles and tribulations associated with working in the mental ward services unit the risk that comes with dealing with patients who are not mentally stable can only be mitigated by a staff that ahs enough experience and idea about the complexities of such a situation.
