Slide 2 Individual reflection

Being a business analyst for this project, I had the duty to work with Gurpreet and take responsibility of solving the problems which I and my group member face while working on it. Therefore, before me and Gurpreet started working of design specifications and user stories, I analysed my own role and understood where I lie and what role I have to play in this project. Before starting working on this project, I took complete responsibility of identification and solving the problem that may arise and effect the business solution. There can be a lot of issues which may arise and I listed all of them. After listing all possible issues regarding this project, I studied them along with the literature covering the solutions to them. Moreover, for this project I had to work closely with James who was the project manager, so that I can analyze the existing business systems and make the recommendations for the improvement in the project accordingly. I and Gurpreet kept on moving ahead step by step entirely with the help of consultations and mutual coordination. I believe both of us have done the great job as far as the design of the project is concerned.

Being a business analyst, this was a little challenging for me to consider all the design problems of the project and adhere all of them. I had to face a lot of issues while making decision regarding the business cases as this project had to be operational and I could not afford to make my teacher, group members and the stakeholders down. I realized that I had to take every step with too much concentration and after consultation with Gurpreet. So, I keenly observed everything before I took any action towards the project development.

The requirement of project design can be seen through this block diagram. The sensor (camera) will send defect location to the designed system. The admin can upload, view and download data. The road worker can view and download data.

After performing the complete observation test and spending time to understand all the design choices, we came up with a decision of design, which we thought will be more appropriate and suitable for our project. Before making the design choices, our goal was not to select the simpler one, but we aimed to choose which adheres to the project needs the most. Therefore, we chose two designs to carry on with our project that were, Relational schema and domain model. James (project manager) also helped us in choosing these two designs.

On the other hand, among all the design choices, we chose relational schema because it provides structural independence and is easy to use. Also, data is presented independently in this design and proved to be saleable, which can be amended and used for other projects. The relational schema for our project gone very well as it contained all the tables to be entered into the database and their entities in detail. The depiction of foreign and primary keys in the relational schema explained the flow of the project too much extent too.
