Introduction to Multipurpose Family Room Design

The high population density leads to many problems like lack of proper comfort due to ergonomics. Space-saving arrangements are one of the options that could save the problems and innovative designs for space-saving and arrangements are needed to be entertained and a wide variety of designs can be suggested as modular design elements including furniture for design. As per the given case study, inspirational ideas include the concepts with books, magazines, and architecture. These are the three inspirational idea concepts.

The books can provide an inspiration source. It is essential that the books furnish the room and it could be used as a wall covering or as a lighting example. Magazines are considered as an essential source of inspiration and a well-produced magazine has different qualities. There is a close connection between interior design and architecture and it acts as a source of inspiration. Furniture’s are directly related to architectural form. These concepts and could be effectively developed creatively. Furniture is considered to be a necessity than a luxury. Furniture comes in all shapes and sizes. Depending on function and purpose the design of furniture may change. Furniture consumes about 45 % of floor space. Multipurpose furniture shall be used for space-saving. The main function is that it could perform a lot more than one function (Dhiraj, 2014).

Here the furniture performs the function of storage and bookshelf. Modular furniture could be divided into several parts based on customer preference. Here as per the case study there exists a need for a traditional transformable room. Here there is a bed-mounted inside the wall. Specially made furniture fits the space correctly and a transformable room performs the functions for kids as well as adult members. The area could be transformed for doing exercises and study purposes for kids. (DHIRAJ et.al,2015). The bed is attached to the wall as seen in the figure. This could be folded back so that the children will get adequate space for playing and the parents can read and practice yoga whenever required.

The trends and wellbeing of human designs are driven by fundamental needs. (Dhiraj, 2015). The furniture used for interior decorations affects the actions and behavior of humans. As the design space is too small and may contain only a basic selection there is a need for a smart furniture saving solution. The residents have to transform or refurbish the room according to their purpose. Multifunctional or modular furniture can transform the space effectively according to the purpose of residents. Here the room is said to be multi-purpose as the purpose of adults and kids is to be fulfilled. The development in customized furniture has resulted in the making of modular couches which is a good thing when the space is limited and the furniture may be designed as per the customer requirements.

The furniture plays an important role in dealing with the feelings of residents. The placement of the furniture in appropriate spaces could visually treat the residents and make a positive difference in their environment. The design spaces are too small and the need for smart and efficient furniture is essential. The main result if the furniture space is less is that the resident's gas to use the room for multipurpose space and the area could be refurnished accordingly. The difference in design concepts of the room may cause different psychological impacts when the effects are surroundings are different from environments. The spacing of furniture along with the colors is also equally important. The appearance of furniture has a big impact on space perception. As per the literature, the domestic rate of violence increases if stress is developed due to a lack of space in the room. The furniture may come in different sizes and shapes. A multipurpose space can accommodate several functions. A variety of areas and rooms are to be considered and small multipurpose spaces can quickly give a crowded feeling. This crowded feeling is psychological of not having enough space for furniture in the room. The interior plan and layout for the room may be kept simple and standard so that it can bare minimum available space and the repetition of building elements is reduced. The residents can get a clear idea of utilizing the space and storage with a good arrangement of furniture in a multipurpose room.

The cupboard s can be used for the storage of books and space can be effectively utilized for yoga practice and children's play. The modular furniture and bed can be also arranged within the space.

Purpose of Design Brief

The furniture setting and arrangement of chairs and tables should be such that effective seating arrangement and utilization of space is done for a middle-class person as well as people living in small homes(Shiyao,2013). The main purpose of design is to make aware the people about effective utilization of space with modular furniture elements and the function of the interior designed is that to provide accurate advice and recommendation for optimal space utilization for work, relax and live within the specified interior space.

Role and Function of Interior Designer

The interior designer may deliver the latest trends and with his knowledge and skill, he could save money related to material and space. They could give expert comments on making the space more appealing and functional. The designer shall define the space and suggest safety requirements for producing plans and layouts for the clients to review for changes and requirements. The interior designer shall suggest the suitable material to utilize the space effectively. The initial phase includes activities like client identification and finalizing the nature of the project. The next phase is the concept development. The concept stage is the ideation stage, here the concept development will begin and brainstorming solutions are developed .The interior design stage starts with the identification of design requirements. Like space and function (Dhiraj et.al,2014). After which the current market trend and suitability of materials for interior design are checked. The novelty in design is an important factor and it should be checked every element of the design is unique and according to the function of living residents. The suitable materials for utilizing the space effectively are determined then the color texture and layout of the room is finalized according to user requirements. The design concept statement includes details of conceptual drawings and details of color textures and materials. The time frame of the activities shall be separated with proper sequencing and anticipated completion date. The completion date should be final and the project design and completion shall not deviate from the plan. The design may change according to the functionality of residents. The design is different for a living room and kitchen. Final design documents include working drawing and construction details and specifications. This includes perspective three-dimensional drawings and ceiling plans for the installation of electrical products. Section elevation and 3 d drawings with design elements are to be specified in this stage and a critical path time frame is also suggested. The schematic drawings and representations shall be as per the standards of the country. Different countries have different standards and specifications for the design and construction of building elements. The last stage is the execution stage of the project. Here the contractor's bids are to be checked concerning the schedule of construction elements. The sequence of activities is to be thoroughly checked and the Gantt chart for different activities is to be specified by the interior designer. (Tan, 2013).

The space-saving arrangement is an innovative concept with sustainable development ideas that could influence the potential design market. All materials and decorative items shall be delivered immediately before the project development. In the final stage, the designer has to do a follow up regarding the proper installation of design elements. The designer shall make adjustments as per the requirements of the client at last. The design shall be followed according to ergonomic development and procurement with waste materials. To improve the space-saving products interior designers need to create more ideas and know the importance of ergonomics.
