Introduction to Role of The Cognitive-Behavioural Intervention

Mental health is one of the major issues in the health care sector due to the increased stress that increase the risk for the young individual to acquire depression or anxiety issue. More than 300 million people across the globe are affected by mental disorder. 29.2% of the population have a past medical history of mental disorder or currently living with the mental disorder that has directly increased the complication. The increasing prevalence of the mental disorders in young population needs to be addressed by the right health care intervention to improve the mental wellbeing of the population (Mirzaei et al. 2019).

The research problem is that increasing prevalence of the depressive episode in the young individual increase the negative behavioural aspect like social isolation, irritant behaviour and aggressive attitude and some led to the suicidal thought. The article presented by Patel, (2013) discussed that young individual facing depression encounter different behavioural issue that can increase complication. The unaddressed depressive episode of the young individual increase the risk for mortality or lifetime disturbed mental wellbeing that can lead to irrelevant behaviour of the peers.

Intervention to assist the young individual facing depression is important to help them by addressing the different mental health issue that needs to be improved to increase the individual wellbeing. The article presented by Das et al. (2016) added that intervention is important to help the young individual by addressing this issue associated with the depression to improve their mental wellbeing. The nurse should actively engage in the intervention to improve the person-centric approach of the intervention which leads to better mental health outcome that is the major aim of the intervention. The intervention will help to address the mental as well as the behavioural aspect of the patient to provide holistic care.

Boolean operators: AND and OR are used to connect the keywords in the search

In the PubMed search different filter has been used to improve the accuracy of the article concerning the research question that includes year filter, full-text article and article type. These filters are combined with the different keywords that are ‘therapy role in helping a depressive patient”, “intervention for the young depressive patient”, and cognitive behavioural therapy for depressive disorder treatment”. These keywords helped to improve the search of the article that is relevant to the study. On the other hand in MEDLINE advanced search strategy is used to improve the use of Boolean operators that increase the search perspective with the use of relevant keywords. Some of the filters that are used in the search include age filter, journal filter, source and language. The relevant articles after the retrieval are reviewed and the best five articles are selected to improve the justification of the research question.

Results of Role of The Cognitive-Behavioural Intervention

One of the studies presented by Health Quality Ontario (2019) discussed that cognitive behavioural therapy is considered to be an important intervention to help the patient-facing depression or anxiety issue. The therapist with the help of the health care professionals helps the patient to improve the negative thought process. Cognitive behavioural therapy helps the patient-facing issue due to depression to improve the thinking processes that are important to improve the unhappy episode. The cognitive behavioural therapy is also important for the patient-facing depression to resilience their behaviour which will ultimately decrease the symptoms associated with the depression. The findings are supported by Ebert et al. (2015) added that one of the major issues with the young generation is the increasing prevalence of the mental disorder that leads to greater burden over the health care sector. One of the treatment options that are considered to be most important is cognitive behavioural therapy as it helps to improve the treatment by nit using traditional treatment approach. There was a significant difference in the intensity symptoms associated with depression between the individual attended the cognitive behavioural therapy session and individual not attended cogitative behavioural therapy session.

The study presented by Watzke et al. (2017) discussed that there are different mode of the depression treatment process like medication, different therapy but cognitive behavioural therapy is considered to be the first line of treatment option. Cognitive behavioural therapy not only improves the symptoms of the patient concerning the depression but it has a long-lasting effect over the mental state of the patient to decrease the chances of lifetime episode of depression. The same findings are also stated by Chiumento et al. (2017) by adding that psychological issue can be best addressed by cognitive behavioural therapy. The cognitive behavioural help the patient to deal with the trauma, loss and stressors that lead to the depressive state of the patient. The cognitive behavioural therapy helps the individual to understand and adopt different strategies that are important to deal with the stressor without compromising mental wellbeing. One of the studies presented by Vara et al. (2018) discussed that one of the most used and effective treatments for the depression is the cognitive behavioural therapy that helps to improve the thinking aspect of the patient. Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on the four aspects that help to improve the mental wellbeing of the patient which are psycho-education, behavioural activation, cognitive therapy and relapse prevention. These aspects are combined in the cognitive behavioural therapy to address the issue in the holistic manner which leads to the better mental wellbeing of the patient. different sessions are conducted so that patient progress can be recorded to improve the understanding related to the impact of the intervention over the patient mental health.
