Introduction to Research and Evidence-Based Practice - Literature 1

Citation: Ceccarelli, G., Andolfi, E., Fontani, A., Calise, F., Rocca, A., & Giuliani, A. (2018). Robot-assisted liver surgery in a general surgery unit with a" Referral Centre Hub&Spoke Learning Program". Early outcomes after our first 70 consecutive patients. Minerva chirurgica73(5), 460-468. https://www.minervamedica.it/en/journals/minerva-chirurgica/issue.php?cod=R06Y2020N03

In this paper, the focus has been kept about the implementation of robotics or robot assistance in the management of liver operation. In this paper, a randomised trial study has been done with a sample size of 70. These 70 individuals have undergone robotics surgery of liver resection. The involvement of surgeon is 6 and this experimentation has been included in Hub&spokes learning program. The outcomes are quite appreciable as the mortality rate (30 to 90 days) is zero and morbidity rate is 10.1% (Ceccarelli et al. 2018). Hence, from this angle, it can be mentioned that implementation of robotics is quite helpful and has enhanced the efficiency of surgical setup. This has also invoked the least invasive surgery concept. Nurses have to take care in every stage of the treatment and recovery of a patient. Hence, this literature is useful to enhance the knowledge of the practising nurses and has a role in nursing study and literature review as well. The key words for this paper include AI, robotics, laparoscopic surgery, medical setup. Cochrane database has been utilised to retrieve this literature review.

The application of Artificial intelligence (AI) is getting enhanced in recent time and is taking entry in the medical settings for caregiving. The nurses have to take more responsibility in the process of caregiving to the patients and specifically to the treatment of ambient patients with orthopaedic and trauma issues. The purpose of this study is to point out the role and prevalence of Artificial intelligence in orthopaedic surgery and trauma management. This is a systematic review about the implementation of Artificial intelligence in the obtaining of medical data and the process of treatment for trauma management and in orthopaedics. The discussion of the literature has specifically identified that AI has its implementation of obtaining radiological images, laparoscopic surgery, management of clinical datasets and more (Tjardes et al. 2020). The registered and practising nurses have to take part in the management of all the mentioned procedures along with the doctors. Hence, from this angle, it can be mentioned that the article has its usefulness in the nursing profession. This literature review is based on the application of robotics and Ai in the medical setup. Hence, the literature has its relevance with this literature review as well. The key terms for this paper include robotics in operation theatre, AI, Algorithm base analysis. PubMed database has been used for this paper.

Introduction to Research and Evidence-Based Practice - Literature 3

Citation: Yang, J. S., He, B., Tian, F., Liu, T. J., Liu, P., Zhang, J. N., ... & Hao, D. J. (2019). Accuracy of robot-assisted percutaneous pedicle screw placement for treatment of lumbar spondylolisthesis: a comparative cohort study. Medical science monitor: international medical journal of experimental and clinical research25, 2479. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6462172/

The purpose of the study is to identify the effectiveness of the robotic assisted surgery in the surgery of Lumbar spondylolisthesis. A cohort study has been conducted in the treatment of the patient suffering from the same issue with a sample size of 60 individuals. The robotic assisted operation has been conducted experimentally over the sample size 30, to replace the pedicle screw. The rest 30 have been kept as the control to conduct the comparative analysis. In the traditional case, the fluoroscopic guidance has been done to penetrate screws (26.6 %) in the pedicle wall. This has been replaced with the robotic surgery where the penetration is about 6.2%. The potential usefulness of this paper is that it has addressed the effectiveness of the robotic-assisted surgery and acceptance of the same in the medical setup. Nurses and caregivers have to assist the surgeon in the operation theatres and special training is needed for the nurses to handle the robotic instruments. In this way these are useful in literature and nursing study. The key term includes Robotics, AI, and Robotics assisted surgery. The NCBI-PMC database has been used to retrieve this literature (Yang et al. 2017).
