They play a significant role in abolishment of health and support organizations (Turley et al., 2018). These nurses accomplish several purposes and responsibilities in the primary healthcare system. They work in partnership with the patients i.e., children which is in itself a complicated task as collaborate working with them is not easy. According to World Health Organization, (2019) it is a public approach for achieving patient-centered care by keeping the preferences of the patient and its family members in mind. The aim of primary health care is to promote the overall health of the individuals, families, communities and actually the whole populations. Their importance is in the provision of a health supporting environment to the patients. The intended consumer group in this resource is children. It has been seen that child population is very delicate and is prone to a wide range of diseases that can turn into serious life-threatening illness if they didn’t get immunized or vaccinated at time. Immunization saves life of a child by strengthening his immune system. The child and family healthcare nurses play a major role in this delivering the safe and effective process of vaccinating the children. The reporting rate of immunization of children in Australia is above 91%. Though, the immunisation reporting for the children has been seen increasing since 2009. But, it has not reached the aspiring target of 95% now. At June 2020, the national reporting rates for immunization were 94.60% for those who are one year olds; 91.68% for those who are two year olds; and 94.77% for those who are five year olds (Australian Government, 2020).

Intended purpose

The main purpose of the selected resource is to spread awareness regarding role of immunization in saving the life of children. The other objectives of this poster are to promote and enhance the rate of immunization among the children in order to save them from deadly diseases by making their immune system stronger. Immunization begins the natural defence mechanism of the body for building up the resistance towards specific infections. Successful immunisation interventions has been seen the reason behind the eradication of smallpox as well as the widespread abolition of poliomyelitis (Orenstein & Ahmed 2017).

Suitability

The selected health education resource is suitable as it is able to make an impact on the intended consumer group. With the help of this resource optimal outcome can be achieved that is spreading the awareness and increasing the rate immunization among the child population. The resource is free of any medical jargon. The education resource is helpful in educating the different aspects of immunization. This includes the interrelationship of protecting the children and the community because immunizing means protecting the children from serious illness and protecting the children contributes in protecting the community as well (Australian Government, 2020). The chosen educational resource is suitable in measuring the coverage rate of childhood immunization that contributes in tracking how secluded the community is against the diseases that are vaccine preventable. This results in reflecting the potency of the health-care system in targeting the intended group effectively and in providing the vaccinations to child population. The higher rate of immunization will help the whole community in fighting and protecting against the diseases like measles. However, Australia’s aspirational target for the rate of immunization among child group has been set at 95% in order to attain the herd immunity against all those diseases that are vaccine-preventable (Department of Health, 2016).

The chosen educational resource has numerous benefits as it helps in developing the understanding of the role of immunization. The ultimate goal of primary healthcare is to prevent the public from diseases. However, this resource helps in doing so as promotes the prevention of diseases rather than treating it. And, it has been seen that it is much easier as well as a cost-effective way to prevent someone from a disease rather than in treating it. This is exactly what this educational resource through spreading the awareness regarding the immunizations aims to do. Immunizations help in protecting from serious diseases as well as also help in preventing the spread of such diseases to others and this contributes in benefiting the primary health care (Queensland Government, 2019). It has been seen that over the years immunizations have disenchanted the epidemics of those diseases that were once the most common infectious diseases such as mumps, measles, and whooping cough. With the help of such educational resources public become aware of the importance of immunization and become more active in implicating them which has been benefited the primary health care by the near eradication of some diseases such as polio and smallpox (Anderson et al., 2018).

Challenges

The first challenge faced is the shortages of the vaccines as well as the staff. However, the mothers of the children also lacks as they fails to bring their children back for their next immunization on the return dates and this is also considered as a challenge in immunizing the children. Maintenance of the vaccine potency is another challenge as the findings has revealed that the cold chain of the vaccines that maintains its potency is not well maintained at the time of transportation and storage of the vaccines by the members who are intended to take care of these procedures. Vaccines must be maintained at suitable specified temperatures. A lot of vaccines are heat sensitive, while some of them are destroyed by freezing. Thus, cold chain is important in maintaining the vaccine potency. For this, the vaccines must be transported and stored in an appropriate (Mothiba & Tladi, 2016). Another key challenge is the wider application of currently available vaccines against severe diseases that result in the significant morbidity and mortality in the developing countries (Malande et al., 2019).
