Introduction to Philosophy

The apology of Socrates acquires a considerable significance because it contains the words of Socrates, which he said at the time of his trail when he was going to be sentenced to death. As per the article covering the apology of Socrates, shreds of evidence show that this entire thing was the most known trial in the history that was also misinterpreted. The justice was taken for granted. According to Denyer, in 2019, some severe accusations were imposed on Socrates, who was known as the pious and innocent person before. He has mentioned that the apology of Socrates included a whole history in which it is noted that Socrates was declared guilty as a result of some actions, including impiety and corrupting the young. Moreover, he sentenced those young adults to death and reported not to continue a good behavior with the bodies.

In the apology of Socrates, some evidence also shows that he did not accept all the allegations mentioned above and resisted them with complete effort. Whiting said in 2013, that apology was proposed by Pluto, which covers the entire process of Socrates's defense to the trial. According to him, Socrates denied all the allegations and argued that he is not involved in any action he is accused of. Matthews stated in 2013 that Socrates never feared death and comprised the high wisdom in this soul. According to him, the fear of death is nothing but the indications that one's soul needs nourishment because it lacks knowledge. He added that Socrates believed death is not a limit, and it also brings good to everyone in a way or another. Although Socrates rejected the penalty of death imposed by the jury, he was sentenced to death. He only had to say at the time of trial that he wants an apology from anyone who even thing that all accusations made over him are true. He added that he does not fear death, but does not deserve a death in which he is declared as guilty for action he did not even do. He emphasized a lot on the right and false wisdom, and he elaborated that his primary mission is spiritual, which is to question the people. Asking them would make it easier to make them realize what the true and false pearls of wisdom are (Orr, 2016).
