Introduction to Preoperative Education for Total Knee Replacement

Nurses plays major role in patient care; they are responsible for patient’s health requirements. With the professional care of nurses there are more chances of recovery for patients. The patients with knee replacement and robotic surgery could improve their health by nursing physiological and mental interventions. It is most important for nurses to make good communication with the patients suffering from knee replacement or robotic surgeries. This will help them to make a trust and bond between them, which will help in fast recovery of patients.

Current Role

Pre-habilitation will work for the patients with knee replacement and robotic surgery. This includes the training provided to them to improve their physical abilities like muscle strength, exercise, and coordination. Nurses can use pre-habilitation for their patient’s care and recovery strategy. There are several things which nurses have to take care about the patients who are suffering from knee replacement and robotic surgery. This includes providing the patients proper oral nutrition’s, their diet, mental care and training about exercises. Nurses also need to take care if the patients have any allergies to antibiotics. Nurses will encourage the patients to do more physical task like mounting stairs, or to sit-down and walk (Renee et al., 2020).

Future Role

Patients will need nurse’s care and training in their future also to get early recovery from the disease. If the patient gets treated for any disease like knee replacement or robotic surgery, then also nurses play a major role to relief them physically and mentally. After treatment, nurses provide rehabilitation to patients, which include resistance exercises that will help patients to get recover from joints pains easily. Rehabilitation can be worked in both physical and psychological manner. Patients after surgery may face the problem of malnutrition, so it is also important for nurses to take care of their proper diet with improved nutrition’s. These diseases can also affect the patient mentally, such as anxiety, depression or confusion. In order to make them relief from this stress, nurses can provide them massage or simply play some music (Lonner et al., 2019).
