As a Quality Assurance Manager, it’s crucial for me and my organization to be highly responsible or else it might have a negative impact on the client hence the company if anything is not done in a proper manner. In simpler terms, I’d describe my leadership style similar to a coach who likes to lead by example and also be responsible for their mistakes.
Q2 .Share any incident when you demonstrated leadership skills in your department in recent years.
There had been an issue amongst the team where one of the teammates is mentally disturbed due to workload and was thinking of quitting the company which would have affected team’s performance. So, I interacted with that person and tried to make things simpler for him by reducing the workload and providing him necessary flexibility which certainly eased his stress and made him stay.
Q3. Share any incident when your idea improved the efficiency of your colleagues/department?
There have been always some shortcomings that were highlighted by the clients due to the miscommunication between the teammates. So, I took up the responsibility to sort out these communication issues by increasing the number of meetings and organized team outings which brought the team together which enhanced the team’s performance.
Q4. How do you ensure that the targets /objectives stay on schedule?
The quality assurance team should always be vigilant. So, it’s important for me to ensure this discipline in the team and I did this by assigning the teammates a prior deadline to that of the client’s one and also handed this responsibility of giving reminders to the team members to a particular member of the team.
Q5. How do the goals of your department help you become a good leader?
This particular department has definitely played a significant role in evolving me as a much better leader as this position taught me the value of being responsible towards the teammates and the clients and helped me gain the ability to handle the pressure situations and I’m always grateful for this.
Q6. How do you handle disagreements in your team/department?
Disagreements is very alarming issue which might cause rifts in any team. I follow a very sensitive approach to handle such issues by arranging a team meeting and know their opinions and the reason for the disagreements and sort out everything in front of the team itself by making them understand the risks involved in taking such decisions and bring the best the possible outcome.
Q 7.What was the most difficult decision you had to make as a leader and how did you take the decision?
One of the toughest decisions taken by me is to not to give up on my teammates when they’re not performing up to the mark. As a leader, it’s important for me to believe my teammates abilities and cope up with their failures. I took the responsibility of their failures by sticking to my moral values and understanding their situation.
Q 8. Share the incident when there was no hope to complete the task, but with the help of your "out of the box thinking" ability it was completed?
There was a task when no one was able to do it individually. It was that time when I decided to take their individual inputs upon this by asking them to fill a Google form and with the help of their inputs collectively, I could finish it.
Q 9. Give an example of a time how you managed a difficult/stubborn employee?
I organized some special audits with that employee and made him realize how his inefficiency is putting the entire team into a risky situation and also explained him the after affects of his stubborn approach which might affect him in every profession.
Q10. How do you deal with team members who fall behind schedule or cannot keep up the pace with others?
As my way of leadership is similar to a coach, I always want my teammates to improve in all areas and want each and every one of them to be equally talented and I’d do that by organizing some special sessions for those who are falling back and also urge other teammates to help them whenever needed as a colleague.
