Introduction to Empowerment

Empowerment is a measure which has been designed to grow the degree and process of self determination in people also includes autonomy in the community. It also helps in making people able to believe in them regarding confidence, their capability, their interests, their talents and make them feel responsible and self determined in every way, also in regards to the authority provided to them (Wong,&Giessner,2018). Further, it has also been explained, that the process of empowerment and confident and strong especially in controlling the life of an individual and also claiming right on the life of others, for the good and benefit of another person is empowerment. Moreover, it is an action which is for both the process of self-empowerment and also to provide professional support to other people, who are not capable to take stand for their rights and duties, in short for themselves. Jennifer met with an accident and was unable to bare the expenses and was been supported by Centrelink, soon Jennifer faced the financial crises and even the landlord of the house asked the family to acquit the place as he was selling the property. Such instances prove the will power and empowerment of a woman to struggle to let her and her children live. Building enthusiasm and courage to tackle to face every situation and circumstances alone and lifting up the children while maintaining the daily basic needs and dealing with every challenges alone is a major task done by a woman. Therefore, the theory of empowerment suits the facts and circumstances of the matter and involvement of Jennifer Mitchell in the lives of her children and dealing with all the responsibilities.

Rationale for Choosing the Theory

The main concern for choosing the empowerment theory is to showcase and upheld the situation of a women according to the facts of the matter, managing the entire house on her own without any string support. The theory of empowerment is social, multi-dimensional and a basic process to lift up the people who are less confident and do not have courage to face the public. The principles laid down in the theory depicts about the struggle of people who are less confident regarding their capacity and calibre, also are not able to take stand for themselves. Empowerment takes place at different levels and to different groups and community (Fullagar, &Pavlidis,2018). The main purpose of the selection of the theory of empowerment is that it has courage and motivation for the women of the society. The most important thing of the theory is to develop confidence within the people and make them understand to speak for their rights and duties towards society. Further, it is explained that it is a process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one’s life and claiming one’s rights.

Principles Applied to The Theory

Principle 1

· Empowerment leads to the value and rewards of teamwork therefore, there are three merits of the teamwork.

1. Functioning of a team over a period which is sustained and preserves the entire well being and health of the employees.

2. The whole concept is of the product and service which has involved many steps which can be simultaneously be performed or conducted.

3. Teams require and provides a chance or an opportunity to employees which is not actually possible for an individual to work alone on it.

Such empowered teams have the two main vital elements which are produced below:

1. The preference or necessity in order for the concept of interdependence and to achieve the main agenda and goal of the team.

2. Also, an expression of individuals achievements and excellence.

Therefore, the teamwork is as important and an essential substance for the success of empowerment as so less products and the delivery of services are done by the efforts and hard-work of an employee. Further, when the principle was applied onto the organization, an organization is looked as a connection and developing network of centre of excellence and interdependence. The promise and commitment to the team and same project should be maintained and balanced with the declaration to the entire credit of success to an organization (Richardson,2018).

Empowerment leads to the personal and professional continuous growth in an organization

Addressing empowerment in personal growth and professional development is a measure of life which is empowered and developed by an organization. Therefore, empowerment is a certain process which upheld to be dynamic in process rather being a goal which is specifically reached and presence of the cycle of sequential motivated settings of achievements and goals, which actually derives to be enhanced and also prove the capability of employees. People with the better and high-involvement or requirements which are actually related to the skills oriented through people, and the necessity of growth consecutively in correspondence to the personal growth of an individual. Empowerment has led people to understand their working ability and capacity as no other employer or any other employee can dominate the another (Sachs, 2018). Empowerment has built the confidence amongst the employees to enhance and experiment their talents. An individual should have courage to build ways and motivate the people for developing the habit of working and building their own ways and paths. The principle lays that every individual should have the strength to fight against the circumstances and harsh situation when ever they come across, therefore as per the fact of the abovementioned matter it is obvious that Jennifer required strength and motivation for building herself strong and dealing with every situations of life. People need to understand the most important thing to have courage and confidence in them to deal with every situation of life and balancing situations according to the requirement of life. It for every person who is even working or is not, acknowledging the fact that very individual requires strength and motivation for every single happening in the society which shall make the person stronger and also increase its capabilities, such increase in strength and building motivation shall be a positive point of an individual to work and deal with all the situations in an organisation or in the present living society.

The principle includes the ways and manners of the strength and resources as the entire concept is built on the strength of community and the perspective focuses on the aspirations and strengths and exceptions to such opportunities are the problems and deficits. It should not be said that the situations are ignores and problems are sorted, the ways I which an individual responds and behaves to the developing of the theory is the most important thing which is required for the growth of the principles. Further the principle lays that every person has some or the other motivation and strengths in them which they require for the development and growth as in person. Empowerment has told us that what actually the confidence and self-belief means, and the strength theory has made a clear idea of people being strong and having courage to deal with every situation and circumstances which fall in the way, either its any employment or it’s the matter related to household. The theories have been similar as empowerment and strength are connected to each other, will power and strength of a person develops the empowerment in the person. The difference is only that building strength can yet be simple but to bring that strength in empowerment is bit difficult. The theory that shall be used in the professional practice shall the theory of empowerment as it helps in building a person in every aspect either it is confidence or it is motivation.

Historical and Geographical Context

The concept of developing empowerment and strength amongst the society have been in practice since ages and people find motivation and courage in something or the other by encouraging each other and by dealing with the situations all across the world.

Aboriginal Ways of Working

The ways of working of an Aboriginal people are a bit different from others, there are social difficulties faced by the Aboriginal people and either it is regarding health or it is regarding their working profile. The major concern for the people of Aboriginal trait is the health issues, which is in matter since ages. The theories such as empowerment and strength have a major effect in the lives of people of Aboriginal community (O'Toole, 2014). They are motivated and have courage to deal and face the circumstances, as mentioned health is the major concern to the people living in Australia and specifically belong to Aboriginal community. Since facing such problems in the society, even being poor, every person is motivated and strongly believes in themselves also have much confidence to face the problems of life. The principles used by the people of Aboriginal community have ensure the social worker as an agenda and has used the techniques for building the concept of empowerment and strength to develop their habit of working and proving their capacity and calibre for every work they do. The principles have developed the design of solution according to the problems faced by the people and thus, shall increase the self-motivation and be better and shall be able to do better things in life.The Aboriginal community have always been into the concept of self-motivation and building self- confidence, collaboration and participation in such activities lead the social workers gain interest in hat ever they are doing and will be doing in the near future.

The key purpose of the Aboriginals is that they need to cope up and related every possible challenge which every they face while working and dealing with such issues which might change their life and lifestyles. The ideas of cohesive interaction and such building of strength and motivation helps developing patience in life.

There are many ways in which the theories fit in and are applicable on the daily life and daily basis. Therefore, such application of principle and knowledge can be helpful and have major impact on developing positivity and motivation amongst people. Aboriginal people have the ability to take care and design their behaviour and also modified emotions and feelings that change the mindset from sitting ideal and avoiding work and related actions to prove their professional support and rational aspects into certain approaches.

Conclusion on Social Work Theories

From the abovementioned situations and theories discussed it is been cleared that Jennifer being a single parent after separation with Mark has to face many challenges in life and therefore, is trying to maintain and provide her children Thomas and Amelia a regular life. The theories mentioned are the empowerment and strength which has been related with the situation of Jennifer facing and dealing with all the problems. The theories sit fit on the situations of Jennifer as she has been an example of Empowerment by dealing with all the situation alone also, maintain the confidence and courage within her to earn the basic livelihood.

The theories have dealt with developing the confidence and motivation to work in the person, to take all the negatives as positives and deal with them as the challenges of life and not the resistance. People need to build strength and courage in them to balance their life with all motivation, courage and enthusiasm and be ready for every challenges of life.
