Susan Cain has given a wonderful talk on the power of introverts. She has used a soft and persuasive tone that could connect with the audience and could convince that introverts can sit in isolation or solitude and can come out with good ideas to solve the problems. Generally, it is considered by the society that the extroverts are more successful in life. She has proved with the examples of Buddha and Gandhi that they were introverts and soft-spoken and became great leaders in the field of religion and freedom fighter respectively. She has given a perfect example of her grandfather that he was an introvert to the extent that after her wife's demise he was living as a widower in isolation and used to read books, out of which she presented three books before the audience to prove that when he died at the age of 94, so many people came down for him and even the police had to close gates. Susan Cain positively presented her entire speech that the whole society who is cursing introverts and always ask to become extroverted will have to rethink that they are in fact in a wrong impression.
Response to discussion video:
While summarising the personality of the introvert's vis-a-vis extroverts the live example is given by the speaker Susan Cain. From childhood to working life it has been emphasized that the classroom in the previous time was in a manner where all the students used to face the teachers but now the concept has changed i.e. the students sit face to face. This new concept is brought to encourage team spirit and make students extrovert because it is being accepted by the society that by being extrovert the children can become successful in their life. Secondly, when we now go to offices the concept of sitting in cabins has been changed and people nowadays sit together and talk to solve the problem. It is being felt that by employees sitting together one can solve the problem easily but the person sitting in isolation in deep thinking can come out with promising ideas to solve the problem whether related to science, economics, technology, etc. We can look at the example of scientists like Newton who developed the theory sitting in isolation. Similarly, Buddha went alone in isolation and came out with the idea of new norms to make society altogether different. Generally, it is felt that a person who is an extrovert can lead a team, but introverts who are not excited with the ideas or restless, but are very knowledgeable, soft-spoken people who can lead a company or a society or the masses in a very successful manner. Hence, the society looking at the above examples need to review the approach towards the introverts. The introverts cannot be put under any such kind of inferiority complex that they cannot be successful in their lives. The extroverts create much hue and cry in every situation and try to lead in a manner that they can only bring results and are always found taking credit of his team whereas under the introverts people can express themselves in a better way and he would be a much go-getter to deliver the result peacefully. I am very impressed with the way Susan Cain has presented such a speech by which people will be bound to think that introverts are very knowledgeable, deep thinkers, and assets to society. Therefore, please respect them, honor them and you will get something wonderful from them as they are one-third of the population.
