Introduction to Management and Organisational Behaviour

In this report we will be analysing how the career choices of an individual can help them better suited for a company role. In today’s age of organisation and management, the company and the individual have to assess the needs of the hour and the required skillset in order to enhance the process of project management. At the very beginning of their career they must recognize their strengths and analyse the marketing trends to put their career goals ad affiliated activities into practice. This report will emphasize on the projected career graph of a bachelor’s of business graduate.

The Career in Question

As a bachelors of business graduate, I wish to explore the tenets of management right from the basic level and eventually become a media management executive. The media management executive works in the marketing, sales and communication department of a media firm. There job is in the marketing and promotions sector. Their job implies that they have to successfully apply paid social strategy and manage the operations with other social media platforms.

As a senior management executive, I will have to track monitor and optimize performances. Overseeing strategy, campaign structure, media optimization and regulation of ad content will also come under my job responsibilities.

In a media firm another important job will be testing audience segments and its research and development. I will also be responsible for the recruitment and management of team members that will help in driving forward a media strategy that will help the company acquire more subscribers. Ideation of potential influencer strategy and utilizing my business training to implement social strategies in the view of social advancements is a vital aspect of being a Media management executive.

The media management executive is responsible for driving the company forward. Their media prediction and understanding of market behaviour has to be innovative creative and astute. My passion for entertainment and learning the intricacies of digital landscape make me perfect for this role in the coming years.

The Company Organisation and Structure

The Walt Disney company was started in 1923 and became hugely popular because of its creation – the Mickey Mouse in 1928. They started as an animated film company and cartoon creator. A few years later they started developing theme park operations and graduated to the merchandizing of the Disney family characters thus entering the world of retail and getting customers in all countries.

With each passing year and more business, they decided to keep certain brand names as head of divisions and their operations. Each division head had their own sets of responsibilities and goals they had to follow through. Because the company and so many parts modulation and ideation of specific brand functions for future growth were derived (Griffin et al., 2017). They had clear priorities for every part of their business. Indicating the company’s dedication and commitment to acquiring and increasing business, the desire to invest in alternate revenue streams was reflected in company choices.

As a diversified media and entertainment enterprise, business segments are media networks, parks and resorts, studio entertainment, consumer products and interactive media. The company has operation sin more than forty countries which is why they need executives at various levels with extreme expertise to monitor the company operations. This is extremely useful in understanding the content needs all across the world (Griffin et al., 2018). Every division and every department need the best of talent to keep up the legacy of the Disney company.

The company role and responsibilities of a media management executive are the most important ones as they are the ones responsible for ensuring future subscriber acquisition and enhancement of company operations to create and market stories that will be cherished by people all over the world.

Because Disney is such a trusted and well know name, anybody who is employed by the company has to be extremely knowledgeable with requisite amount of skill set that helps them navigate the story seas of the entertainment and media world. The management executive needs to provide a sense of leadership to their division and come up with creative solutions for operation management.

The performance of this manager is what defines and dictates the standard of company management in this scenario as they are the ones responsible for the growth of their division.

They exert control and give direction to the company project management. Delegating management and deciding on company roles for their team members according to their skill set is also the role of the senior media management executive of the firm (Daft, 1987). With strong sense of business ethic and astute ideation techniques regarding branding and marketing it is the media management executive that shapes the growth of the company.

What Are the Skills that A Media Management Executive Requires?

I will have to start as a media manager at the basic level and then grow and get promoted to higher levels by building on my social media and strategy knowledge. A business degree along with knowledge of marketing communications are the most important factors.

Priorities are consumer marketing and brand development. The media management executive needs to be quick in decision making, creative and should be able to demonstrate experience in interdepartmental duties (Felix et al., 2017).

Extremely strong verbal, written and presentation skills with proficiency in MS office is a must. Management and analytical skills with experience in social advertising and media management are a strong plus and I will have to work for a fee more years before I apply for this role (Bohle Carbonell & Lemmink, 2018).The passion I have for social media platforms and its understanding play an elemental role in my career progression. Another positive factor is my highly creative, analytical growth mindset.

The desire to creatively connect to devise and implement key social media strategies to various mediums is a very important task. Only somebody who has the adequate business skills and understanding of the market can do justice to this job.

Conclusion on Management and Organisational Behaviour

The role of a media management executive in a company like Disney is a very prestigious and important job. Understanding the industry and analysis of the career decision will take some time. But the acquired experience will go a long way in proving my suitability for that job title. As the decision makers and managers of tomorrow, I must work hard to understand the changing consumer needs and the modes of entertainment consumption to help them serve better. A company like Disney will always strive to perform to its utmost excellence and present stories worth cherishing and only a media executive who understands this and the trends of market better will be able to do this job properly.
