The community agency helps to provide the overall well-being of the older people and to help them identify ways to overcome, the present, and ways to prevent future challenges (Network 2020).

Practice Skills Required by Community Workers for The Older People

The engagement of the community-based supports and services (CBSS) has been designed to help the older people and the adults, to provide secured services as per older people needs, assessment and requirements. Research indicates, that within Australia there are 20% of older adults (that are aged 60 and above) and have also been receiving active community services (Dwyer, 2020). The older services for the adults help to provide 90% of the services to the users and even aim to improve their medical condition (Lawn, Westwood, Jordans, Zabeen & O’Connor, 2017). The community assistance can be for the older people experiencing multiple chronic conditions and also identifying the corresponding activity such as daily living (ADL) deficits condition. Through this, the community workers can provide a better framework of general assistance that securing the older person with the basic needs of housing, finances and having home safety programs. It is also important to provide the wide opportunities and even the best community programs along with the civic engagement to the older people. To improve older people assistance programs, extended support such as personally involving various volunteers and programs that can improve the older people skills, improve their attitude for living, and also attaining a better control over their life (Zhang, 2017).

The older age people can feel challenge with the range of services, eligibility to gain assistance and can be unsure of how to attain them. By not knowing about their rights to attain assistance, it can be a barrier when improving their wellbeing as they hold limited knowledge on how to access them. Based on the older people's requirements, the main aim for the community agency, is to provide help from the health care providers, support in the health along with social issues. The practice skills required by the community agency while taking care of the older people are to educate the older people about their rights, provide assistance in the services and helping them to know more about services and approach to seek an active support. The practice skills such as interpersonal warmth and the ability to listen can help to respond to the patient's needs and the communities (Langbecker, 2017). The practice skills required to handle the older patient requires to understand the specific skills, such as the knowledge of the training materials and activities that can keep elder people engage to know about their basic rights and needs.

The role of the community workers is to provide engaged practices that could help older people to attain a better framework of working. By keeping the older people engaged in some practices it would help in the reminiscence work or stress management work. This approach to reduce stress while engaging older people in some programs or task, can be done through acquiring professional training and experience based on identifying the needs of the older people.

Older people might feel distracted and may be limited focused. The older people can experience the inconsistent body language and they would be reinforced as to what they are saying and feeling contradicted.

Principle of Being an Engaged Listener

The older people can feel engaged if they listen and the level of alertness can be restored through the subtle intonations. The principle of effective communication can help to convey the true mix of emotions and even provide support to engaged listening practices. Being an engaged listener can help to bond well and engage well. Communication two ways can lower the stress, provide supportive physical and emotional wellbeing, and even aim to provide calmness (Dwyer, 2017).

The principle of effective communication also asserts to pay attention to the nonverbal skills, such as how the older people are responding, can move, and even listen can help to note older people's active engagement (Langbecker 2017). The communication through the nonverbal measures can help the community worker note if the older person is feeling lost, unconnected, or feeling unreactive. The community worker approach during the nonverbal communication is to understand how to connect with the others, to express how one means, and to overcome the challenging situation. Effective communion when understanding nonverbal communication can be through the expression, having a true meaning through adopting a subtle tone, behavior, and an attitude.

Principle to Check Emotional Wellbeing: Stress Check

The principle of using stalling tactics can help the community worker to determine if the older people are feeling stressed while talking or his way of response (Lawn, 2017). If the older person is taking a long pause while talking or using the words which have no meaning, would mean that the person is having a stressful situation. Many older individuals can face the complexities of the decisions and to increase to overcome the complex situation.
