The role of project management in planning and control has already been established in the industry for planning and control. Project management are being used thoroughly in the entire world for development, training and certification programmes. These are being done on the assumption that there is connection between standards and effective workplace performance (Crawford, 2005).

Work Breakdown Structure

Work Breakdown Structure is a important tool for project management. It helps in planning, execution, and controlling. It is a structure that related all project work. It helps in splitting the project into many elements and to overview project’s performance. Normally project managers are responsible for the creation of WBS. It helps in reducing cost, schedule and quality failures in project’s life cycle (Burghate, 2018).

The milestones and summary tasks are provided on the table above. It includes, Initiation which comprises mainly of initial tasks, Resources which is subdivided into training and others. Training which is subdivided into Instructors, workers, support staff. The other two are communication which has survey and marketing, the last comprise of Quality Analysis which is subdivided into online feedback form for workers, weekly feedback from instructors, weekly tests of workers, and audits to know about change in efficiency of workers.

Conclusion on Role of Project Management in Planning and Control

This project mainly includes WBS for project scheduling, Time management and Cost management. WBS is made from Microsoft Project 2016 which is helpful for real-time tracking of various activities of a project. To effectively manage time Gantt chart is used which includes slack time. With Gantt chart one can easily track the delay in the project. Third part of the project includes cost management which can be easily done through WBS made earlier. Cost management helps us in keeping cost lowest and provide us the budget during planning stage. Overall these three are the most important part of any project planning, and project management systems.
